Some new PE TT G-tech numbers! Updates!

Hey Guys

I am still sorting out the issues here. The car runs VERY VERY well, considering... I can't help but wonder how well it would run with the stock TC! Others have told me that the RT cats maybe bad, even if they are not showing signs at first glance. Also, the car runs VERY well at night (@ cool temps) and POORLY during the 80-90F afternoons (almost a night and day difference). Well, it still needs some tuning. The a/f is perfect after 4500rpm (11.2-11.5) but very lean south of that mark (~13).

I did do some g-tech runs. I remind you that this is running at 4.3 psi of boost, and we took about 4-8 degrees of timing off, just as a safety measure (something we didn't really have to do for this low a boost setting). I am very happy with the results at this point (@ said conditions), but am confident that there is room for improvement.

Each of the runs have been done a few times on two different roads, so they are definitely NOT "a fluke". None of them were done with a power-brake launch, just by simply hitting the gas (for consistency).

Best 0-60mph: 4.964 sec (range: 4.964-5.102)
Best 1/4 mile: 13.32 sec @104.5 mph
Best 0-100 mph: 12.42 sec

For reference, here are my best non-power-brake N/A times:
Best 0-60: 6.003 sec
Best 1/4 mile: 14.1 sec @100.x mph (can't remember)
Best 0-100: 13.9 sec

Can't wait to see the results when I turn up boost to 8-9psi.

gurgen - The power decrease in the high temps during the day... ...especially close to 90 or above... ...is to be completely expected with turbos. You're going to have some heat-soak issues that compound the effect of the high ambient temp. Several months out of the year at anywhere from 95-110 (and the majority of the year at above 80-85) is what forced me to get rid of my '97 Mits.GSX. For city driving, it's hard to ever get enough air across your intercooler, which then gets heat-soaked as well. You just aren't going to make as much power when it's hot.

Yeh, you'll be like I was and find yourself living for the cold nights and winter months. Just be sure to tweak your A/F ratio when that cold snap hits!

Cool, thanks

The A/F ratio will get richer or leaner @ cold temps? I just do not think it should change on a MAF-equipped car correct?

Also, the collant and air intake temps are VERY good. Air intake temps, while sitting and idling in 90 degree weather for a little while, was about 125 (lower than what pop-charger-equipped cars experience - 130's). While moving in the same weather, the air intake temp was about 115-120 - also not bad. The same applies to coolant temps, under 200 when the car is in motion, and no more than 215 when it's not - similar to N/A cars.

I think it's the issue with the oil temps that is screwing things up a bit. I will need to get a gauge to really study the issue.

Man Gurgen, what make's me even more impressed is, 1) you're only running 4.3 lbs of boost and its not even fully tuned !?!? 2) Its an auto sedan and you didnt even power break to get into the 4's and 3) This kit is such a good turbo kit!! Cant wait to see some official times at the track. Good luck Martin

DITTO^!! Makes me wish I was living up north! West Texas has some cold winters, but that means only cold temps for about 3 months out of the year.

And gurgen, the cold temps should result in a lean condition due to the increased oxygen from the colder, denser air. I should have qualified my statement about keeping an eye on your A/F ratios. My '97 GSX was making due on the OEM ECU and the combination of the really cold air and nearly 20psi of boost allowed things to get a little lean. lol I'm sure you'll be fine if you are simply aware and watch for a lean condition. Mmmmm. Nothing like a fat turbo on a cold day or night... ...except for maybe two!! lol

lol^

And right now, my left *** is looking pretty useless. lol Now, if I can just find a buyer.

I've told myself that I'm staying away from FI as long as I'm living in this desert. It'll be interesting to see how long that attitude sticks around after I take delivery of my G. Maybe a low-boost, intercooled system wouldn't be so bad (hot). lol

I am eager to see a TT G35x, like something between an AMG sedan and an R34.

Can you imagine just mashing the peddle on 4 sticky tires? Oh, the thought gives me chills.

Ron,

LOL. Yes true. THis car feels great at night - no doubt about it. I am now wondering if I should just stick with this TC for now. Who knows maybe it is the RT cats, and they coincidentally went bad at around the time when I put in my last TC - which should be good dammit! Maybe it was just downshifting more aggressively when I first got it? As it is locking the rpms only fall by about 125rpm, compared to about 300rpm on stock TC's. So things might be good. I will be getting some test pipes and seeing if that makes a difference.

excellent numbers

cant wait to hear when you're sorted.....

you dyno tuning???

i tried a gtech 0-60 with the base vortech kit installed (base settings, no tuning) and ripped a 5.2X with the car sideways thru first gear (and i mean really sideways)...

now that i've dialed in over 60rwhp more (and today upped the boost for even more), i know i will have better power..... ( had 365 at the tires on the stock pulley, with stock exhaust - mustang inertia control dyno)......

just dont know if i can get off the line any better w/ these lil 18's anymore

forced is fun, aint it???

es

ps- have you installed the nismo LT thermo, coolant hoses, or anything else (to help lower or control heat)??

Bat,

I am not sure it will be be helpful, unless you had an MT tanny or a super high stall TC.

Mashing it at the stock 2000-2400 rpm setting will NEVER get your tires chirping, it doesn't do that on my car wit hcrappy 235's, as boost comes in a littel later !

Es , it sure is

You got those numbers at 8psi, or 10psi (which pulley)? At 365 hp? I belive Zimbo is getting the same 5.0-5.1 numbers at 8psi if I am not mistaken.
