Exactly.....but tools are useless unless you know how to use them. It doesn't appear that the OP knows much about EGT's or A/F ratios. He could be running 14:1 on 6 lbs and not know just how dangerous that is. Before diving into such a project with limited support he should research the topic heavily, unless he just wants to burn through his savings.

$10,000 - that's half of what it cost me but I have not had issues that I couldn't fix myself. The proper tune is the key to keeping your engine alive - any other problem can be addressed fairly easily (with more $$).

I'll shoot you another pm, but there is no need to bash Turbonetics. Yes, other kits may be superior as far as power capability and responsiveness, but the basics are all the same. A turbo spins and forces air into the engine, in this case, an engine that was never meant to be boosted. So people that say Turbonetics is crap either installed it incorrectly, or did not do enough research and purchased a perfectly good kit that simply did not meet their power goals.

A turbo kit is a turbo kit, now if Turbonetics kits had turbines flying through the intake into the motor and blowing it up it'd be a different story. And they solved boost creep problems early on, so the kit is fine.

If I were you I'd pick up a used engine and have it installed, and get it tunes. Or you can sell the car to me for cheap and I'll fix it myself haha. Turbonetics G35 is a killer DD. My FD is not nice for going around town.

Stock MAF maxes out at <6psi @4500rpm. If you're running stock MAF and stock injectors you were WAAAAAAAY lean at 8psi at redline, probably 16:1+. Don't blame the TN kit, the same thing would have happened with ANY kit at that boost level. 3 psi MIGHT have been safe for you...

Pay a little extra and ship the car to a shop that knows what they are doing...

Welcome back to the land of moving parts! I can't wait to be able to make the same announcement. I went through exactly the same issue with a shop I thought knew what they were doing because of their experience with other platforms. They probably even do reasonably well with those other platforms but with that being said the mistakes that were made were unforgivable.

I "blew" my engine too and got the bottom built- er- am getting the bottom built and going the boost control route. Got the tranny done too- no sense spending that amount of money on an upgrade just to have a car you need to handle like cotton candy.

Looking forward to hearing your final stats! Who did the build and who is doing the tune? I'm sure there are plenty in the area who would like to know.
