I blew up my VQ35DE with the turbonetic at 8psi
I blew up my VQ35DE with the turbonetic at 8psi
ok... i blew it up in the first 3 hours i had it... but im a non experienced driver, and i really beat the **** out of it... so may be i deserved it... that happened 3 months ago... now i have a little bit of money to put it back on track... what should i do... this time i swear i will be gentle with my car...
By the way i didnt get the car tuned... i just sent my ecu to Turbonetic...
what should i do if im a non experienced driver...
1. Should i buy another motor and do the same setup ? at 8psi and be more gentle ? Should i get it tuned ? or used the ecu from turbonetic
OR
2. buy another motor, but get a spring to run it at 6psi ?
I dont need to be the fastest... i just want it to run SAFELY...
If you have the same setup than me ... tell me how it goes please...

If you have the cash buy a Forged Performance or GTM built motor and get it tuned and crank up the boost, tuning is a must with any forced induction and any PSI. Or just buy another stock engine run it at 8psi and have it tuned.
Dang that sucks. To answer you question, get it tuned!
But if you have money to blow up two motors, then why not go ahead and buy a built motor and tune it? That way you can beat the sh** out of it.

ya but why do i need to get it tuned if the ECU is re-maped by turbonetic ?

please, those who have turbonetic running on stock engine, and have no problems, tell me some advice...

That is one of the main problems with that kit.All engines are just a little bit different and the generic tune by them cant take in every variable thats out there.Get it properly tuned and hope for the best.
Yes there are people that ran fine with just the reflash but there are also countless of people that blew their motor with just the reflash. You were one of the unlucky ones. Are you from the North East? If you live down south were temp dont change that much then you can take a chance, but if you live in the north were temp can go to -10F deg in the winter and 100F on the summer then that's a big difference. Our advice is that if you already blew your stock motor the first time then why buy another stock motor? You cant guarantee the health of that motor to begin with so you'll probably blow it up again. Do you even have guages?
My guess would be the ECU reflash was off on its tune and thats why you blew your engine. At the very least you should run an air fuel gauge in order to tell if your running rich or lean or at the absolute minimum go to a tuner with a wide band and have check and make sure your AFRs are where they should be.
And seriously, if you're a "very inexperienced driver" you shouldn't be boosting in the first place. Just too much %$^ that can happen and go wrong. Stay NA or trade it for a factory boosted car
ya i have a wideband and boost gauge..... im not so inexperienced.. its just its my first 'forced induction'...people around here dont realy turbochardged g35.... im the only one around who did it... so cant really thrust what the shop around here tell me cuz they dont know **** about it... everybody mods subaru sti or audi ... volks.. civic.. around here.. they dont know about g35
Get a tune next time. Reflash is NOT a tune. I bet your engine was detonating like a machine gun the whole time you were in boost.
If you don't have an uprgaded fuel system (bigger injectors, walbro, RFS) there's another issue.
