Re: APS TT System

Some more info about their kit:

The Garrett turbos, just like the PE turbos, ARE watercooled. The difference is that the kit will provide the hoses/fittings to actually use this feature. This is EXCELLENT. At some point in the future I will be utilizing that feature of the PE kit; it allows for a longer life of the turbos. I am only concerned about the rising coolant temperature that wll be observed with this kind of setup, and how the ECU will respond to it (may pull timing, etc.).

Re: APS TT System

The kits are due to Ship out on the 30th of Sept.

As far as the G35 goes are going to probably test fitting one kit to see what we would need to do to make the kit work on the G's. 90% sure it will not need anything major other than a new bumper to improve airflow (God forbid those small vents)

Gurgen your using the stock facia correct? Would you ever go with a different facia?

I dont have much time to respond to posts but feel free to give me a call if you want to talk more

Update from APS: G35 TT System

Guys... I spoke on the with David at APS in Australia last week, and we have been exchanging emails on this subject over the last couple of weeks.

I am posting information, as provided by David, due to disclaimers and confidentiality agreements in communications....

Ted,

You can post the following, thanks.

1, APS will build a G35 system.

2, The G35 has serious issues, which APS will address. Simply installing a 350Z system on a G35, without addressing these issues has potential for serious problems.

3, APS will always err on the side of technical caution, if any situation is in doubt. This is the result of having been in the industry, worldwide, for over 25 years.

Best Regards,
David

As mentioned in posts above, APS feels that we are modding a car that was never intended for modification by the manufacturer. As I pointed out to David, if we lived by that rule, we would never modify any car!

I'll let you know of any further developments.

Re: Update from APS: G35 TT System

It may not have been intended to be modded in the US, but as the Skyline in Japan, surely they can see the marketing potential.

Re: APS TT System

OK Guys

A couple of things that APS brought to my attention that i forgot to correct (subsequent to the earlier stages of our discussion).

Again, I want to reiterate that the workmanship is superb and the kit looks to be a solid. I am looking forward to the compressor map for analysis.

1) Engine management.... they do use a superior EM to e-manage - that's for sure. The box controls a/f, timing, and boost all in one (kinda like ProfectE01 can adobt the different preconfigured maps for every preconfigure boost level - but much more gracefully I belive).

2) injectors..... They use Bosch injectors...which is what Nissan sources (mostly). Not the RC.Siemens ones. So these injectors are in fact very Nissan-specific

Re: APS TT System

They haven't been tracking the G35 (as it was not on their radar) One of things that I learned from David on the phone was that he was not aware that the G35 had any aftermarket front ends... they are very concerned with air flow.

i sent him a doc with pixs of all the a/m front ends for coupe and sedan.

Re: APS TT System

how vital is the restriction of airflow to a single intercooler by our stock front bumpers?

Re: APS TT System

I agree that the numbers aren't all that impressive relative to the other kits out there, but I think part of this is due to the fact the the kit was tested on an almost stock 350z (only catback). I don't know what other mods the Top 5 list guys have, but I'd be willing to bet it's more than a catback.

Re: APS TT System

No.

It was a catback AND test pipes (a big distinction), in addition to 94 octane fuel. See it here http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/350z/350z.htm

Besides....what other mods can you put on a turbo car besides test pipes/exhaust? Nearly nothing (a plenum maybe - and very few of the top guys have one, the top 2 definitely don't).

Re: APS TT System

Hi Guys, I just found this thread and this is my first post on the forum.

I was only recently made aware of this forum by a 350 Z owner from another forum so I thought I would visit and help you guys out with any info you would like to know.

In short we are (that is APS) planning on designing and producing a specfic Twin turbo system to suit the G35 coupe and this development will be started very soon.

So let me know if you have any questions pertaining to the intercooled TT system and I will do my best to provide the answers.

Peter
