Cerseft

$9K with intake and catback exhaust, so say about $8K installed, NOT including the hood? WWWOOOOWWW. That's a lot of money.

Re: Stillen S/C Install

Catback installed is $1450, stage 2 is $5263+tax, install for 18 hours (16 for SC, 2 for exhaust and intake) = $1200 which all totals about ~$8k, I'm also doing eibachs and sway bars, maybe I included those in the $9k, not sure ....

Re: Stillen S/C Install

16 hour install........ sorry to say, but that is definitely TOOOO much. I do not think it takes half that (in fact, I am pretty sure it doesn't).

Re: Stillen S/C Install

If you have someone work on it for the most part of the day and they know what they are doing, it takes about 8-9 hours. It took Stillen about 8 hours to install mine and they do they everyday.

Re: Stillen S/C Install

I realise that Stillen (the makers of the SC) could install it blind folded. However I am up in WA and this was not an option, I am not unhappy with the length of the install and therefore do not feel that I am too much for a good, tidy, cautious install.

Re: Stillen S/C Install

Fair enought, it's just that i thought 18 hour install was way too long with respect to the labor charges that that would incur. I'm all for careful install, but you've got to be a gimp if it takes you twice as long as specified.

Also, shops often overcharge for an install. I would bet you ANYTHING that it does NOT take stillen that long to install their SC. In fact, I just talked to Adam, and he said he has got a dealer (not even Stillen) that can do it in 6hrs, INCLUDING install of the hood (painting is of course not included in this time estimate). It just upsets me to see how brazen some of these shops get and, in my experience, quote as much as double tha actual time, and how some of our G bros get hosed by these unscrupulous characters.... Like those SP Engineering *****, the ones that say that it takes 30 hours and $10,000 + TAX (on the kit) to install the greddy kit (oh yeah, they sell the kit for $7000 - instead of the $5500 street price and charge $3000 to install it --- oh yeah, "they don't install anything they don't sell!)

Be that as it may, it's a reliable and plug-n-play kit that will never destroy your engine. Congrats.

Re: Stillen S/C Install

Yeah, gurgen, I totally realise where you are coming from. I was at the shop for a good few hours yesterday and they are definately not hosing me on the time aspect.

Quick update, just heard from the shop, SHE LIVES!!!!!!

Re: Stillen S/C Install

Some more update information, it is seeming more and more likely that the ECU that Stillen sent me is a dud ....

<a href=http://creed.angeltowns.net/g35videos/Coupe_StillenShaggedEcu.wmv>This is a sound that I don't wish on anyone ...
ECU hooked up but no spark</a>

If the ECU is unhooked, we have ignition but not modified fuel maps, but this is a preview of things to come.

<a href=http://creed.angeltowns.net/g35videos/Coupe_StillenNoEcu.wmv>Stillen ECU not hooked up</a>

My install guy is working with Stillen R&D but they will probably have to send me a new ECU which won't be installed until monday.

Other videos of the general install process ...

<a href=http://creed.angeltowns.net/g35videos/Coupe_StillenInstall.wmv>Parts on floor and intercooler</a>

Mmmmm, shiny ...

<a href=http://creed.angeltowns.net/g35videos/Coupe_StillenCatbackExhaust.wmv>Nice and shiny Stillen cat back exhaust</a>

At least I got an agreed number of hours labour and don't have to pay for more than that ....
