Smoking on when letting off thottle questions

Hey everyone...

I have had several issues with my turbonectics turbo kit. Nothing during the install, nothing with the tuning. It all seems to fall on the the turbo itself. After partial or full throttle let off, the car seems to smoke real bad (gray or black smoke). We have done several things.
First the turbo was sent back to TB HQ for a rebuild because it was leaking oil. They said it overheated and seals were leaking. We got it back and it immediately smoked worse than before it was sent off. It dumped a ton of oil into the downpipe, with none sitting on the intake side. It was sent back to TB HQ and they found scorring and a leak they overlooked or caused...no one knows.
Secondly, we have it back again and it is still smoking. Put a restrictor in the oil line (Shop recommeded since TB kit doesnt come with one). Just vented the pcv and it cleared up a little bit. But now we are at a loss with what to do next. Oil Catch can?

My question is has anyone had this issue before and FOUND a solution? The shop believes it to be the turbo again, but TB HQ is trying to say its the car. We ran the car without the turbo in and the motor itself doesnt smoke at all.

Its been over 2.5 months of this and I am frustrated and I am hoping you guys will help me out.

(I will be posting this in MY350Z as well)

HELP!
and thanks for your help in advance!

All the lines have been checked and double checked and in the proper location, including the oil return line. The cooling lines have been replaced to avoid the initial overheating issues.

We are guessing that it is the turbo again...seeing how the track record is with them.

If the smoking is continuous and not getting worse, you may be getting a lot of blowby and not necessarily a blown turbo.

Drove it again yesterday with the PCV hose off and it cleared up a little and but is smoking like it did when I first had issues with it. White-blueish smoke.

Are you sure its not your head gasket starting to leak?

Better do a compression and leak down test now just to be safe..

Do a compression and leak down test to make sure. But I'm going to guess you're having a massive blowby problem. Search blowby and create a breather/catchcan like you'll see most people have done. Search on my350z for more results.

We have thought about those things, but we are looking to the simple things first to before we start trying the more complicated things...

I suggested the head gasket yesterday, but if that was the case, wouldnt it have smoked without the turbo in place? We ran it that way and no smoke came from it.

A compression and leak test might be next...I will post what we are going to do next.

a catchcan was suggested, but since we ran it with the pcv line off it was determined that it isnt coming from the motor...but rather the turbo. My shop has had several issues with Turbonectics turbos being bad from the get go, to having sent it back up to 4 times to get it running right. They are determining today wether to send it back to TB HQ after they speak with them on the phone.

I would def get those done, the engine works a lot harder when there's a turbo hooked up to one side and that could be making it leak.

I heard lots of bad stuff about TN turbos and many engine failures caused as well. Keep us in the loop with what you find.

no doubt about it. The turbo has been pulled once again and being inspected before sending back to Turbonectics HQ. I will keep you all posted.

its going back to TN HQ. The car was hooked up N/a again and driven with no hint of smoke and the downpipe was caked in oil again.

So TN HQ management said they would oversee it (third rebuild) personally and if it still smokes on return, they will replace with a new one.

so its another three weeks or so until we find out...
