i think my stock dyno was 246whp with some NA bolts on..
now im only pushing 4.6psi running at 298WHP and 306torque at very safe point. i think its enough to smoke most of the cars on the freeway

 

Keep the ATF under 240 degF and/or change it more frequently and the trans I think will last. Heat kills transmissions. In order of importance, for FI on the 5AT:

1. temp gauge
2. trans cooler
3. valve body

Our Speed Force Racing twin turbo system puts down 400-420 WHP @6-7 psi on the bone stock automatics.We did a completely stock car many years ago that had about 10k miles on it and nothing else done to it except for turbo and exhaust.No tranny mods at all.The tranny lasted about 30K miles before it went kaput! An inline cooler(to be used in conjunction with the factory unit) is a better option as the first mod to the tranny then then valvebody, IMHO. The valvebody just increases line pressure to shift it quicker but the temps can still climb! The temp is what is going to kill the parts inside the tranny!!!! And since we build alot of these automatics, I think I have a pretty good idea of what I am talking about. LOL.Good luck guys!

Here in OZ the Infiniti is an imported car and we are really starting to see more of the cars on the road now and the number of years of experience with moddy the G35 will be a great help to the PPL here in OZ, who are looking to more pass the Skyline GTR or Skyline GTST models and move into the sport luxury car....ie V35.

I'll repeat what was already said since I guess you missed it... 5AT should be modded for FI:

1. Larger cooler
2. Valvebody upgrade
3. Proper tuning so the TC locks up when it should
4. Drive in manual mode when hard boosting

Optional: Higher stall TC.

All of this should allow you to put down at least 500 whp through the 5AT.

500 might be a bit lofty but it makes a point. From what I was seeing on my numbers with the TT setup I think at least with the cooler, VBU, and proper tune ~400-25 or so would be a "sure thing." If I was going to want to put whatever that torque ended up being through my AT I don't know if I would be comfortable in the 500whp range.

I'm not sure how much an aftermarket TC would boost up that reliable range- heck, might even be 500whp / tq. If the tranny IS going to hold that, I'd start looking at the block for weakness first. There is a lot of debate about the MT vs AT engines and how much the HR is upgraded from the DE.

The OP and 300ATW would probably benefit from my rather lengthy build experience thread. Being a noob myself, I had a lot of the same questions and had a LOT of feedback from the guys in here who know best. It also is a good demonstration of how 12k build project can quickly, VERY quickly turn into a 20k+ experience. It really tests your desire for power.

Anyway, go check out the FI: We're not in Kansas anymore thread if you haven't already. I'm an 06 AT Coupe so I know exactly what you're asking.

If i were you i wouldn't buy a g35 auto..then go FI.. IMO thats wack..
