TT Track Junkies...Need your Input!
What do you guys do to stop your car from overheating?
I have done everything I can think of, 53mm radiator, oil cooler, nismo thermostat, water wetter..and my damn car does not stop getting too hot. The stock gauge will hit basically as high as it can go and my aftermarket gauge hits about 260. This is coolant temp, I do not know how hot my oil gets but I'm assuming it is somewhat similar.
Just got finished with my 5th track day yesterday in about 80 degree weather and after 2-3 laps on a 2.4 mile course I couldn't get on it at all.
I'm out of ideas on what else to do...but I know there are people here with TT setups that track their cars. I want your input on how high your temps get and what you have done to keep them as low as possible.

I ran into a problem overheating on the track. My problem turned out to be that the Walbro fuel pump was sucking the in-tank fuel hangar dry and I was leaning out - I could see it on the AFR display at the end of long straits.
If fuel delivery is not your issue, I'm stumped. I have a Koyo radiator, two oil coolers, and the Nismo thermostat. When fuel pickup was not an issue, my temps were normal.

Don't recall, but even after the oil cooler temps didn't get changed.
Fuel delivery is no problem, hitting normal AFRs. What do you mean by "normal" and what temperature was it outside? Normal as in the stock gauge didn't move after it gets to its normal position? Do you have aftermarket fans or anything else?

No never done any data logging. Not too sure on how to do that
Trending Topics
Evans waterless coolant is said to help reduce temps(I just switched over to it myself but have yet to get it back on the road) also I just switched to aftermarket fans. I would say you have done everything you can do but those two changes.
As far as data logging I think you need an aftermarket ECU and a laptop to log what your car is doing while driving. I am not sure if it can be done through the OBDII port with the stock ECU???

Outside temperature was mid-70's. I have the stock fan.

I've never overheated on the track, I can easily run 20-30mins.
I have the big Koyo too, even when I had OEM rad, I never overheated.
Air in your cooling system? Thats the only time I ever overheated.

I don't believe your turbos are watercooled, so your water temps wouldn't get hot like a watercooled turbo would. No air in the system though.
I think your right the fans likely don't come on at higher speeds, I got the Mishamoto fans. I mostly got them because with my PWR rad the OEM fans were pushed up against the JWT intake piping the Mishamoto fans give a little more clearance. Another possibility is get a water sprayer (i have seen kits for this before) or rig up the Winshield washer sprayers to spray water on the rad
I am not sure what EMS you have I have a ViPEC and it could control the sprayer so you wouldn't manually have to push a button. I think that option would be more for time attack as it would help cool but only for short periods or until the water runs out. I have heard more of this being used on intercoolers but the same principal would work on Rads, not sure if its a good option just throwing some ideas out there for you
