i know there are quite a few g's and z's that have a turbo setup and they blew their motor but how about people with superchargers, did anyone blow a motor running with a supercharger setup.

Re: anybody blow a motor running with a supercharger

There have been over 9 350z's that blew they're motors witht he Procharger SC kit when it first came out, havent heard anything about it lately. The Vortech and Stillen i havent heard any prob's with or about, they seem safe but Stillen isnt pulling out great performance #'s and the Vortech to me is the best IMO!!

Re: anybody blow a motor running with a supercharger

I cracked a piston ring (I hope) in cylinder six with my poorly tuned Procharger. Even with the loss of compression it still puts more power to the ground then the Stillen.....

Anything tuned wrong will blow this motors, they are very fragile.

Re: anybody blow a motor running with a supercharger

I blew # 4 cyl. out with not enough timing being pulled out . I talked to the wrong people I guess . Live and learn . Im having the motor built .Pistons, rods ,cams , the whole 9 yards . I'll be able to run all the psi the Vortech can put out , in about a month . I may try the waste gate thing....to make it easier to tune up top

Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old

booger, how may degrees of timing were you pulling and at what PSI? Craig mentioned that pulling 1 degree for every lb of boost would be safe...again, what were you pulling.

2 G or not 2 G, there's no question!

Re: anybody blow a motor running with a supercharger

I was taking out 4.8 degree's at 9.5psi . I had talk to Jonh at Grubb's in Texas . He said they only have been pulling 4.5 degree's at 10psi . I did reset my ECU before I went to the track...60 miles away so I thought the drive would have beem enough time . It may have played a part in the blown piston

No way did the ECU reset play a part. 4.5 @ 10psi is just begging for trouble, IMO.

Yup and I found out . But Grubb's in Texas is sending cars out the door like this every day . Ive seen several maps with 4.5 degree's and one with only 1.4 degree's at 10psi . There fuel maps show they are letting the fuel to be dumped in though...thats the only thing keeping them alive
