It depends on the build and any "issues" that pop up. A 450WHP build can take a long time if there are issues that come up. We dealt with one car and we had it for a year because of electrical issues that were not our fault but we got stuck with trying to sort it out.We did but it took forever........We have had other cars that were in our shop for 2-3 weeks for a twin turbo install or a built engine swap. It seems as though the automatics tend to have more "issues" then the six speeds from my experience.

There are multiple shops involved this time and there is a lot of custom work, including flat decking the block, but the shops that I have dealt with seem to be inundated with work, and nothing happens quickly. Here are the threads my builds, which pretty much document most of the delays:

vortech on stock block. Done myself, 1 week.

build block, heads, cams, etc in november. Took about a week to get the engine in. Another month of tweaking things to get it tuned.

Blew head gaskets (actually GRD in chicago blew my head gaskets) in april. Car sat until may when i was on break from med school so i could fix it. Injected performence then tuned it to 451 dd and 507 dj hp.

May, tore it down for a 6765 build, twin pump fuel system. Been working on it most of the summer driving it on and off getting the bugs worked out. no time with med school. Goes on the dyno aug 28th. Looking for 650-700hp DD on e85.
