I see why now!

While waiting on getting my Vortech installed I was very concerned with the rash of supercharger abandonment! A few of you guys yanking there s/c's (or wanting to) in favor of tt.

I now have about 400 miles on my s/c-ed car and it is tuned. I went through a drive-thru tonight and had to cut the car off to place my order. The whine is nice and ok to a point, then sometimes you just wish it would "shut up".

Don't get me wrong, I love the power and could never go back to n/a, but I see where some of you guys are comming from now.

Drag strip on the 10th, hope to have some good numbers, I think I should be able to beat my old 14.03, will keep you posted.

Re: I see why now!

Vortech has a filter to put on your BOV. Alot of us are stuffing that filter with a foam type air filter that you use on a shop vac . It really quieted it down .

Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old

Re: I see why now!

I got the BOV filter on. I really like the Psssst when shifting, but I guess I'll try the foam also.

btw, It really seems more noisy since the dyno tuning. I gained 38 or so hp with tuning, but the car doesn't seem as fast now. I guess I'm just getting used to the power.

Re: I see why now!

Chops, what kinda power did you put down after you tune...what were your A/F readings and have you done anything other than how it came out of the box (besides tune it)...and can someone send me a link on the BOV filter and how to install one...it seems to me that the whistle that I hear is coming from the blower itself and not the BOV...I'm prolly wrong of course...

2 G or not 2 G, there's no question!

Re: I see why now!

If you call Vortech and tell them what kit you have they will sell you the filter. It’s about 20$ and you can install it yourself. It reduces noise by 60%-70%

Re: I see why now!

I paid $9.95, get some foam from a electronics shipping package or from an autoparts store. The dark grey stuff that's pretty dense.

Re: I see why now!

Here is the dyno. Just the fuel was adjusted. I may go back and fiddle with the timing.

What do you guys think?

Re: I see why now!

I just can't get over the fact that the Vortech kills the torque curve that much - I'm really leaning towards the HKS setup the more I think about it... max torque about 2000 rpms sooner than the Vortech (similar curves as Stillen w/o the increased strain on the engine from a roots-type setup)
