Back on topic! Was FI worth it? My G vs M6 w/ exhaust...

(looks like XKR warming up his beast, following behind)

And this is the same GTR I walked up above taking down a 2004 Viper:

I decided it wasn't worth my time to run the viper... Would I go FI again? Hell YES!

I'll say it again, I could never go back to N/A. Each time I drive an N/A G/Z it's such a letdown when you mash the gas and there's no spool.

(Sorry Paul - it was fun though - surprised how well your very lightly modded GTR kept up - no way that is just 400 rwhp!!!)

sweet!

The M6 is a heavy car. Pointless car for the power level and anemic at best for the money it costs. It's actually only 400+ wheel horse power and 300 rwtq which makes up for a bad power to weight ratio.

Its kinda funny. I went from a small, 2.0L 4 cylinder, straight to a Supercharged VQ. I completely skipped a few steps lol.

Ive actually never driven a stock G before, so i cant be a judge of it. But as far as cars go, boost FTMFW!!

No, not worth the money and risk imho, even if u do it "right", there are no guarantees.

Even if things go well, u will likely want more and this means more $$$.

I was going to to go t/tt on stock block and sell my s/c, but I'm leaning towards going back to bolt on n/a or completely stock and possibly selling and moving on to a new platform.

So there will likely be a gtm stage 5 hks supercharger, cosworth plenum, supporting mods for sale in the marketplace on the near future.

If you don't have the $$ to go FI and plenty of extra in case it goes wrong you shouldn't FI an NA car. Obviously NA would be a better fit for you. Personally I'd rather get a Vette, GTR, ect... something with some *****... before going back to NA. I drove a stock G37s a couple months back and almost died from the boredom.

How long do the VQ35's typically last boosted?

You mean on a stock engine? Depends on a lot of things...power, supporting mods, tune etc.. etc..

^^in retrospect, I should have kept n/a but it has nothing to do with money, despite what my prior post read.

I spent ~20k on my current setup with various changes and I'm not satisfied. I have another 20k to play with, but why keep pouring money into a 5 year old car? I would rather save the 20k, recoup some money, and buy a new m3 or s5. It's personal preference and that's just my opinion. My car no longer makes me happy-so y keep throwing more money at it? I have another car to drive, even if it's a 2000 corrolla, lol.

I'm not trying to sh@t on anyones parade, I just don't think I would choose to go f/I again. And I was so close to dropping another 10k on a t/tt setup, and I still could, but something is holding me back. Maybe I'm getting older, maybe my priorities have changed, but modding isn't fun for me anymore.

If u have had no hiccups/issues with your ~400 whp tt setup that's awesome and more power to you. My engine is healthy and my s/c setup is performing fine, but my car is loud as sh@t, pisses off my neighbors, and has traction issue in inclement weather (to be expected)

I dunno if I want to keep rolling the dice. Factory power is always more reliable than aftermarket.

Meh. Just on a typical setup w/ supporting mods. Just pretend you build the motor to push a certain number of HP. How long do they typically last?

I can only speak for myself as I have built my motor, maybe over built it but pushing what I am (520rwhp) I have put on just over 70,000 miles and still going strong. For the 140k miles I have on the car I have been boosted in some fashion for 135k miles of them.

That is definitely amazing. Do you push the car often? Or try to avoid going into boost too much?

How can you afford not to boost, that is the fun part of having FI. I mean I do not go looking for races but they always come to me, I think people look at it as a normal G35 and think "we can take him"
