Re: TT or SC

Depends...SC are less hassle but create more power...TT's are more expensive in the short and long run...I went with SC cuz I wanted something that could bolt on to the stock motor without worrying everytime I got on it...just my opinion.

Re: TT or SC

In retrospect, I would have gone with a SC as well... a twin turbo is nice, but it's potential can only be truly realized if you plan on boosting 10-15psi+, achieving 400-500+ hp, and changing out your internals....otherwise, a SC will do you just fine. TT's require much more maintenance/upkeep and so far has burned quite a significant hole in my already shallow pockets...

It's gotten so bad, that I've considered selling my ride on several occasions (and I still might)....

Just my $.02... from my experience

Mike, I don't want to hear that! Keep that beast and tame it...has it been tuned yet...if not, I know someone who's tuned the Greddy system before...he can do it for a good price...

Re: TT or SC

Can you detail specifically what maintenance/upkeep you've had to take care of so far thats burned a hole in your pocket?

Re: TT or SC

I've had a couple exhaust leaks (still not completely fixed), I've had a pulley that has bored a hole through my power steering assembly/line (that might be attributed to the installation), and in the next week or two I will have to replace my spark plugs because at least one has fried. All of this, and I've only had my turbo kit for a little over 3 months. On average, I've had to dump about $500 PER MONTH into my turbo kit for "repairs or maintenance" over the past 3 months...

I truly doubt that Randy will be experiencing these types of issues with a SC....

Just my experience...

Re: TT or SC

Generally, if the kit is designed well and good hardware is used, you should not have these kind of issues. It's a good idea to even take a good kit and make changes to it if necessary to ensure longevity. I learned a lot about this from the 2 years of having a turbo on my 240sx. If I knew what I knew now about putting together a turbo kit, I would have had very few, if any, issues with the turbo.

I'm curious as to the type of exhaust leaks that you have.

I'm not sure how a pulley burning a hole in a power steering line has anything to do with a turbo.

And spark plugs? I don't think this would be any less of an issue for a supercharger, if all else is equal.

$500 per month seems excessive for what you have described. Perhaps you can elaborate.

Re: TT or SC

And the pulley causing a hole in my PS line...

have you SEEN a G35 engine bay with a GReddy TT setup?

I hope that would explain how cramped everything is....

Re: TT or SC

Yeah, but what exactly had to be done? Are we talking $500 to weld a cracked pipe? Or $500 to remove a manifold and weld a rack? New gaskets?

Re: TT or SC

Ok, but why is it the PS line is being chewed up just because of the addition of a Greddy Kit? Is there something particular about Greddy's kit that causes this? I mean, if you are arguing that the SC would not have problems, you should be more specific as to why a turbo causes these problems you speak of.
