New Vortech Dyno (after plenum & headers)

Dyno'd last night after installation of:
- stillen ceramic headers
- crawford v5 plenum
- 1 step colder plugs, nismo thermostat, etc.

Final results: 376 HP/317tq (before above mods, back in April, we got 359hp/316tq). I actually hit 380hp/330tq earlier in the night, but we did about 12 dynos to work on A/F curve so engine & s/c were quite heated up. Will be re-tuning again in a couple of weeks to try and smooth out A/F a little more.

Re: New Vortech Dyno (after plenum & headers)

I would like to see A/F slightly lower (11.5-11.8) in the higher RPM's. So far we have been using the timing program as received from Vortech (maybe removed 1 degree from that) which is very conservative so I am not too concerned about it for my current driving habits (no track events, etc.).

Good numberes....Its hard to get the A/F smoothed out with the R4.....it needs increments of 100rpm instead of 500rpm

Couldnt afford it when young...gonna play when Im old

Re: New Vortech Dyno (after plenum & headers)

Timing from Vortech is controlled by RPM, when it should be controlled by boost. This info comes from Split Second themselves. The vortech is not conservative, it is improperly "safe".

Nice numbers BTW! Keep it up...

Also if your a:f is taken at the pipe....the dyno calibration could be off, or differ on your car. Only accurate measurement is pre-cat.

kzanard, we have similar setups. I went back to smooth out the a/f. It took an experienced tuner about 2hrs to get the a/f to stay in the 11's throughout the entire run. I ended up with about 360 to the ground.

Here is a pic of my dyno before I went for my second tune:

Re: New Vortech Dyno (after plenum & headers)

Yes, A/F was taken at exhaust for dyno. Tuner used my AEM for reference also. A/F on my AEM is now showing WAY rich and dropping below 11 for a lot of the RPM band under WOT. I can feel car bogging a little. Will be being tuned further in next two weeks or so.
