Are you doing A revup?
What elevation?
Manual or auto?
What dyno will you be using?

I'm nonrevup, I'm at 4500ft elevation, I'm an auto with a little more dt loss. These factors are why I will not get 300hp

I think it can be done. If I remember correctly, Japtrix did a N/A build that made somewhere around 330 whp on a Mustang dyno. I don't recall what mods they had.

how would a 300hp na build with a 3.9FD compare to a 400hp turbo build with stock gearing in the 1/4? im guessing the na would be ahead first then the turbo car would take over? by how much?

my guess is the NA guy would very quickly wonder why he spent so much money on his build versus going FI.

you do realize that a turbo setup isnt always ideal right? like at a track when you wont always be at full boost
and NA will be cheaper, so that counts for something

You asked about a quarter mile race. I'm sorry its not the answer you wanted, but unless the turbo'd guy is a terrible driver, odds are the race is gonna be over by the top of 2nd gear.

+1. NA costs add up quickly. Not a lot of bang for the buck IMO.

^ it happens to everyone man. whatever you decide, just make sure you'll be happy with it for a long time. 99% of the time i'm perfectly happy with my supercharger, then someone like blackbird cpv35 posts a vid like this and i'm like, 'why didn't i just turbo the car'

After you spoolup in 1st gear, you should pretty much be in full boost the rest of the way. Just make sure your rev limiter is working properly when you do a WOT shoft.

Also, you are talking about peak HP, but really you need to be looking at the HP accross the rpm band you will be operating in as you row through the gears. For racing, look at the area under the curve, especially in from about 5000-7500 rpm.

I hear ya, and I need to focus on that area even more since I'm an auto. This is sorta why I asked about the na vs the turbo in the 1/4. Seems like na would have the early advantage with the higher compression, but turbo would win after spool

A two-step module (like the KP Technolgies Speed Shift/Two Step Module) will allow you to spool the turbos even before you launch. The HKS F-Con V Pro has this built in, and I assume the Haltech does too.
