Vortech...belt always slippin...
Re: Vortech...belt always slippin...
booger, you and tig have the 9lbs pulley, don't you? I ask because I still have the 8lbs and bought the *930 and it didn't fit...I had to go and get the 935....and, I'm still unsure how tight the belt should be...I thought I had it tight enough...went out did some driving...went to dinner and when the car cooled down and I restated it, a loud squeal can from the belt for at least 30 sec....I popped the hood and notice that the belt was loose....I did tighten the tensioner pulley tight enough and it's not loosening from that...I'm assuming it just stretch and I need to retighten...ppl say .4 inch travel, but how it that determined? I can make any belt travel the distance I want just by applying more pressure to the belt when testing....HELP....sorry for the rant...

Update
I installed the Gates belt, waited a few days and tightened it again and no more slippage. I do want to make one correction. The 93" belt will not fit safely on the 8lbs pulley setup...I tried and it wasn't happening...I had the tensioner pulley backed all the way out and it still wouldn't fit...93.5 works and I can see why the Gates works so well, it's double the thickness of the stock belt....anyways...thought I would share...

Keep in mind also we're driving a more prestigious car, I never get hassled by the fuzz. I think that they think the car is some special editoin skyline or something. And trust me, my car is loud!
