Exhaust and FI

Well, I've finally got the itch to do my exhuast. I've had the stock exhaust ever since Crawford Z installed my Procharger, headers, plenum, and high flow cats. I want to do from the Y-Pipe back but I havne't heard anyone talk about what systems work well with FI. I want something that will let the engine breath as much as possible so I'm considering a dual but I'm not really sure. What do you all think?

Re: Exhaust and FI

the way i understand is, you don't want free flowing exhaust with FI because you want back pressure for vacuum purposes...I may be wrong, but others can chime in.

Wanna see mine?

Re: Exhaust and FI

well, I am by no means an expert.....

are you sure its vacuum and not boost? You will definately lose boost with a bigger exhaust, and possibly vacuum too, but I have never heard that. I know when you force air in you have to have some place for it to come out. And when you are planning on running 16psi you can afford to lose a little backpressure to allow more air to flow.

Re: Exhaust and FI

If you go turbo then you would need a free flowing exhaust to have the gases exit faster.... but with a supercharger, you will loose boost so it all depends on what you need.

Re: Exhaust and FI

I think the reason people are losing boost with large exhaust systems has more to do with our stock cam timing than anything else.
With our torque-promoting overlap, boost is literally being pushed out of the cylinder under high PSI.

I believe that a cam change to something more targeted to FI would allow for more gains by going to a larger exhaust system.

Just my $.02
