Procharging and tuning questions

I am procharging the 03 coupe and have a few questions. I have been searching and searching, but just seem to find general information on the UTEC unit. What is involved in using this? I do not need to be able to tune on the street, just at the dyno. Can I just buy the UTEC unit and use that by itself? Does it just plug into the ecu, the nthe computer attaches to that? Or must I purchase another wire?

My second question is fuel. If staying under 400whp, do I need to upgrade to bigger injectors and an inline pump? I seem to find mixed opinions on this. Thanks

All you need to buy is the UTEC and a MAP (boost) sensor. However, the Utec is an old POS basically even though a lot of people are still using it. You could also get an ECU flash (Osiris/COBB or whatever else there is) or go with something more expensive like a standalone (HKS, Haltech etc). I used the UTEC for a while and I wasn't very impressed with it. Yeah it works, but an ECU flash is a lot smoother.

You will find mixed reviews on the fuel but if you wanna be safe and have a margin upgrade the injectors and simply replace the fuel pump altogether.

which reflash is the best to use? Also, Osiris would have to be bought new, correct? From what I see it picks up the vin from the first vehicle it is connected to and then cant be used again. As far as the cobb goes, is that limited for what you can do? It seems that was more for a car with just boltons?

Not really...they both work just fine. However the Cobb is discontinued so you could've picked one up cheap...or maybe you still can. I am procharged and tuned with Cobb and it works fine. I know somebody else who had a Vortech and was also using a Cobb. The Utec is sitting in a closet somewhere.

I'll probably go V-Pro very soon though.

Edit: yeah Osiris would probably have to be new. Cobb you just have to make sure the previous owner unpaired it from his car before selling.

The utec is collecting dust. That's its job for now. I put down 360 at at 8-9 psi on a Mustang dyno (which is supposedly reading very low) so who knows.. Supporting mods hahaha...injectors, fuel pump etc.

You can buy osiris used from someone and then all you have to do is buy a new license for the cable, which is $50.

I will probably go with osiris if I ever tune my car, but I'm not FI. I just have cipher for now.

Cobb and Technosquare is discontinued...your only reflash option is Uprev/Osiris which is a good solution.

Based on your post you should not be tuning you own engine. I would contact your local tuner and see what they prefer to tune with although Uprev or a standalone are your best options.
