Stillen Supercharger Belt Installation and adjustments
Upper Supercharger Belt installation/tension adjustment
If you are trying to change the belt or tighten the supercharger belts, you need to have the following tools.
- 13 mm open wrench
- 14 mm open wrench
- Large flat head scew driver
If you are trying to change the upper supercharger belt, you will need to loosen up the tensioner with a 14mm wrench or socket. The long bolt that is used for tightening the belt, is 13mm and can also be backed out to losen up the overall tension so you can remove the belt. If the belt is cracked, or shiny it is probably worthless so go ahead and cut it off.
- after cutting off the belt, remove the tensioner above. Take your new belt and feed the belt over the lower pully on the plenum side directly
below the pully on the blower. It takes a little bit of wiggling, but you should be able to sneak it over the lower pully on the supercharger side.
- Now that you have the lower pully (supercharger side and plenum), with the belt over it, try to sneak as much of the belt over the nose of the blower until it is slightly on. This is difficult, but take a open adj wrench and grab the end washer over the nose of the blower. Taking a screwdriver, push the new belt and turn the washer counter clockwise the way you are putting on the belt. Eventually, you will get it going, then continually pry the flat head screwdriver under the belt (it will be very tight), but continue to turn the wrench side as above.
- As soon as the belt is snug, and on all 4 or 6 ribs, depending on which pulley you have, put your tensioner back on the car and tighten it until it is around 1/4 turn of tension. You may have to tighten it a few turns if you don't feel the blower pull immediately. Tighten the long adjustable back screw (13mm) until tight against the washer.
Instructions to tighten or replace the lower supercharger belt
- This is much easier to replace and or tighten.
The only tools you will need for this job is:
-14mm wrench
-15mm wrench
-17mm wrench
Looking at the engine from the front of the car, you will see the lower blower belt, which is held in place by a tensioner, and a Reversible gold **** on the right. It is important to realize, this gold **** is reversed thread. So when you tighten it, you will be turning the (14mm ****) toward you and the front of the car.
- now go ahead and unscrew the reversible gold **** (turning away from the front of the car) remember. This should release some of the tension of the tensioner itself. Take a 14mm and 17 mm wrench and start with the tensioner which contains a front bolt 14mm., and the back washer 17mm.
Break it loose, if this is the first time, it may be very tight. Once you have the tensioner loose, continue backing it out and you should see the tension
dissappear on the belt. Pay attention to how the belt is routed, because you will need to put the new one on the same way. Installing the new one, is just the opposite of removing the old one. Be sure to tighten the belt as tight as you can. Don't need a impact gun.... Now you should be producing
around 7.5 psi on a stage 3-4., and enjoy the boost!

I strongly disagree with the "tighten the belt as tight as you can" part.
Stillen superchargers need a belt tension of 240 lbs, use a belt tension gauge and do it right or you're going to be eating pulley bearings or replacing belts which gets expensive quick. A good rule of thumb without a gauge is to loosen it just a bit until it squeals then tighten it up until it stop making noise then just a little more tension.
