So I recently installed a V3 vortech, it was used, no idea on the history.. it has been running fine for a few months now but I keep having to put more fluid in it because it spits out the fill valve.
I did a track day last weekend and it was pretty bad, had to keep cleaning and refilling so I would be safe, and hide it from the people running the event cause fluid leaks were a big deal to them.
I assume this fill valve has holes drilled in it to bleed excess pressure. I know when anything is heated it will expand and it was probably put in to keep seals from blowing, but I'm guessing my internal seal near the impeller is letting boost in and it's forcing the fluid out. The reason I think thats the problem is because when I drive around and don't boost much I don't get a lot of leaks. But at the track for example I was in boost nearly the whole time and fluid went everywhere.
has anyone heard of this? do I just need to get the SC rebuilt? I did some searching on the topic and found one thread but it was never resolved.

no, thats why I was asking... to see if you thought my theory would be a possibility.
I powdercoated the scroll and the rear piece but left the center piece in because I couldn't get the impeller off. I replaced the rear seal where the axle comes out for the cog but was never able to get to the front one where the impeller is. thats why I think boost might be leaking in and then pushing fluid out. no idea what else it could be?

I think you should just have it rebuilt to be safe.
damn... that sucks. oh well I guess i'll just get a 928 impeller while I'm at it.
other than the spitting up of fluid the kit feels great.
I was a little concerned that it was only making 6psi at redline considering its a revup kit which has the 3.12 pully. I chocked that up to my build being so freeflowing. with the cams, plenum work and straight through exhaust I assume thats why it's not building much boost. still made 350whp/290wtq on a low reading mustang dyno which isn't bad considering I'm 5AT.

Ur gf isnt gonna like this. Hmm wonder if i should get my turbos rebuilt so i can make more that 367/399'? lol

There's a guy on My350z with the handle: P&K350z who may of had a similar problem with his Vortech V3.
Apparently it says he is from Houston and he tracks his car a lot. Vortech supercharger oil was leaking out the rear input shaft and the seals were replaced and he also made a customized plate for that general area. As far as I know, he hasn't had any further problems. He would be able to explain it much better. Contact him for any questions you may have.

yeah I'll look to see if I can find him, if you have a name that would be great.
mine isn't leaking from the rear shaft though, it is defiantly coming out of the fill spout plug.
I wrapped it all in teflon the other day and it seems to have alleviated the problem for now... I know not the best solution, but no leaks in a week now which is good.

I know his first name is Pedro and I don't know his last name.
He is actually pushing quite a bit of power on his stock block. Last recorded dyno run on a Mustang Dyno, he made 408 whp 330 wtq from what he posted. I think he is actually running more horsepower than that now. He did mention that he upgraded to the 2.87 pulley and blew the rear seal from over-spinning while tracking the car.

You need to heat the impeller and it will slide off with no need to apply force. I used a Benzomatic torch to remove Vortech impeller to swap with 928 Impeller.Originally Posted by sexyrob
