Looking to buy a g35 tt. Need some help

Hi all,

I am currently looking at an 05 g35 with a Greddy TT with intercooler. The owner said that it's running at 3psi because he doesn't want to risk his internals. I thought the standard psi for this kit was around 5-6. What should I be looking out for if I decide to check the car out in person? Vacuum leak?

Thanks!

Sorry man... you're going to need to give us more information before guys can even START to think about answering. You'd want to ask a guy for the full mod list and present it here before anyone can help. Guys are going to want to know what type of engine management hardware / software is being used... because you're definitely going to want to know that it's in order.

Are we to assume you are a 6MT? I scoff a bit at the whole 3psi thing- either you are the luckiest guy ever and you're buying a TT car driven by an 80 year old woman or the dude is so suspect of the build that he has the thing cranked down to the basement.

I also see it's your first post... So guys will be hesitant to take much time to help if you don't work for it a bit more. Post more information... get some pics of the engine bay so guys can take a look at the status of things. Guys with a keen eye can take a look at some things and maybe some flags will go up... or it'll look fine in combination with a responsible mod list and a reliable tune...

I apologize. It was late at night when I made this thread.

It's 2005 G35
6MT
66,000KMs
Greddy TT
Greddy radiator cap
Greddy oil cap
JWT clutch
JWT flywheel
Tein coilovers
HKS exhaust
polished manifold
AEM fuel gauge
Defi temperature
Defi boost gauge

All the mods were done by the first owner. The current owner doesn't seem to know anything that I ask him so I don't know what software it's running.

This is what it looks like under the hood.

And this is what the car looks like just in case the previous owner is on here

Let me know if I am missing anything else.

3psi??? thats like 30-50hp, sounds like there's something wrong to me. And why would the current owner not know anything??? I would take the car to a reputable performance shop and have them do a thorough inspection on it. They should also be able to tell you what all is done to it and if its running properly.

No way everything is working right at 3psi, the majority of the springs for the G35 kits are 6-8psi. Not sure why anyone would go to the effort to change out springs/actuators to run less boost. Even stranger that some one would spend over $10,000 on a TT kit to gain about 50-60whp your going to get a highly modified 3rd hand car...sounds sketchy. Where do you live if there is a really good shop familiar with VQ engines I would have them look over it prior to buying it.
