I'm close to committing to forced induction but would at least want to be able to inch out an SRT-6 or M3.
Speed magazine (R&T) reviewed a few blown G35's, and an SRT-6 (Crossfire) in a separate section. The SRT-6 posts better acceleration even though it has a lower power/weight ratio. Real world performance...these number off?
- Greddy TT G35 (0-60 / 5.3) (1/4 mile / 13.5) 390ish hp
- Stillen SC G35 (0-60 / 5.1) (1/4 mile / 13.6) 370ish hp
- Stock SRT-6 (0-60 / 4.8) (1/4 mile / 13.2) 330 hp
Thanks -M

Might be due to traction. Doesn't matter how much power you have if you can get it from the wheels to the street. What kind of tires sizes were they running on the G35's?
Both had 275 rears. The Stillen tuned G actually had suspension calibrations done as well. Maybe that's why it posted a better 0-60 than the Greddy. But then the SRT-6 only has 255's, so who knows...

Great question, I am wondering the same thing. How can a supercharged G35 with more power be slower than say an M3?

you have to understand that mags are doing articles for auto maker to make there car look good . I bet they pay the mags to do it . The crossfire 330hp isnt going to beat a 390hp G or Z . Every mag you read will show the car that they feature to be faster than other cars in the catagory . Take the Mazda RX8....mags pumped up the car and said it was fast as hell and had XXXhp. Well it had far less hp and I saw a VID with a Honda 2000 , G35 , mazda miata , Acura , RX8 ,and one other that I cant remember . They ran 5 laps...miata and RX8 in the front row . Honda 2000 and Acura in the 2nd . G35 in the last row . Honda passed both the Mazda's before the 2nd turn . The only thing the RX8 beat was the miata .

are the G35's horsepower rated at the wheel or crank? i believe dodge/chrysler rate their cars at the wheel and trust me the crossfire runs around 13.2-13.6 depending on driver. HP isnt everythingOriginally Posted by booger

No manufacturer rates their cars at the wheels. Drive train loss also varies from manufacturer and model. Gearing also has a large affect on acceleration. Did they have trap speeds for the 1/4 mile? That would be a good indicator if they lost much traction at the beginning.

I have yet to drive a G35 with FI but it should be a beast, although at my local shop the guy who drives a SC 350z said it sslower then a stock M3, the M3 is a beast! And i am so dissapointed with these times man, i wanted to go FI so badly, but with all of that money and risk i got an M3 instead!
Unfortunately they didn't post trap times. But I do agree you that mags (especially the mass market mags like R&D, Motor Trend and C&D) may be too in bed with manufacturers to be objective.
But I'm guessing going aftermarket F/I changes the whole way a car behaves, whereas stock cars like M3 are specifically tweaked across the board (tires, suspension, etc.) to best convert the raw power to forward acceleration.
Would be interesting if any F/I members have run 1/4 mile against an M3 at the track. Anyone???

- Vortech SC (0-60 / 4.8) (1/4 mile / 12.9) 450 hp ! =)
These numbers come from a compilation of different blown G's with this system.
Vortech generates 450 bhp in a G35? Is that with tuning? I thought most members with Vortech G's / Z's are getting about 400 hp at the crank, not 450.

u also gotta look at the gearing in the trannies which can greatly affect acceleration numbers. take into consideration that the SR-T is only a 5-speed also.
