MSD window switch issues..

I realize this has been done many times with different models, I have read every thread on driver and my350 multiple times. This seems to be a one time issue.

I have the digital MSD window switch. model 8969, which is important here because this model was supposedly revised from the earlier ones. I tapped into my coil #1 signal wire (100% positive its the right wire, I have the fsm and work at nissan and I probed all 3 wires to confirm).

It reads 0.2V at idle which I'm told is normal. I can also probe the wire at the switch base and it shows the same, so I know the signal is not shorting out somewhere.

my switch loads up fine, shows on/off rpm and then just shows "0" for rpm. I have tried every single rpm setting on this msd switch and they all show 0. I realize I need to be on "1 cylinder" mode since its coil/plug setup on this car.

What could the issue be? Why would it show 0? 06 G coupe 6mt. I have tried everything I Can think of and I am not a beginner in wiring/modifications. Any help would be great before I assume its a bad switch and waste a bunch of money on a new one.

I run a MSD 8969 window switch for 6 years now with no issues. Not sure when the switch was revised and may have older model.

I use the tach signal you mentioned others have used the #1 fuel injector for a better output. Signal wave length is weak and window switch may not be picking it up.

This is what's pissing me off.. I know its in the correct spot! No one else except me seems to have this issue.

I will try to tap into an injector today when I get the chance.

Nevermind the injector, I went out and bought the msd 8918 which is just a gmr pickup. Doesn't work with the typical coil#1 wire (red/yellow everyone uses) but it does work on the black coil wire (signal "ground" wire).

I wasn't sure if this would work because the signal was so weak.. but it works great now! problem solved!
