N/A power or FI??

I recently got into an accident and got into thinking that maybe it's time to treat my baby right?

I have no collision because insurance here in NJ under your own name is 250 (basic) or 360 (full coverage) at the age of 28.

In all the years I've driven her in the snow I never had an issue until 2 weeks ago when I slid at 10mph right into a bumper. You could imagine my pissed off face as I slowly slid even trying to manage getting out of the way.

Long story short I started looking at my bill and apparently the price on all the old aftermarket pieces I wanted back when I was 21 are about 1/2 that. I also make 3 times the amount I used to make when I was 21.

My dilemma is going N/A and getting cams/rods/piston heads/Osiris Flash, going FI with a Stillen s/c
I truly LOVE an N/A engine which is which it's at the top of my list on what to do to my baby. Going to a supercharger is actually a possible option for me because you still have that response.

Does anyone know the cost difference? I know it's about 5400 for the s/c kit but I think I'd still need cams/pistons/heads/reflash if I did that

with a N/A engine I wouldn't pay nearly as much. Anyone have experience in this field? Any information at all is much appreciated.

Goal: 270whp n/a OR 350whp FI

*edit*
Forgot to mention she's at 99k miles. Still runs just as strong when I first got her. I just want to get a little bit more out of her.

MODS
borla exhaust
fast intentions hfc
transgo vb
Mishimoto and Stillen radiator and tranny cooler
5/16 plenum
Z tube with pop charger

A supercharger will get u better numbers.. U will spend a **** load more to keep it na and the numbers wont be there.. Do a vortech with basic build to handle the charger safetly..

But going NA is a safer route I think seeing as FI has a slight chance of wreaking havoc on the engine. With a S/C wouldn't I need practically the same things before I slap it on?

It's more than a track/street car, there's something about driving around in the G during the spring/summer with the windows down that really fulfill me. I just want a little extra umph out of her. She deserves it for being with me so long. She's lasted longer than my camaro and s14 did and I think I should repay her for doing so.

I'm going to get some exterior work on her I might as well drop 4 grand on her to make her a little meaner. I'm just looking to pay about 10g's on her all together.

Gonna need rods too because the ones in the car now are known to be flimsy.

I just feel like grabbing cams/heads/rods/plenum/reflash would give me +50-55hp easy and little to no worries down the line when I want to give this to (hopefully) my kid as his/her first car.

Rebuild the engine for NA power so it's fresh and strong enough to take abuse, add a Supercharger later. If the engine is stronger you can throw a bigger blower at it later and get more power in the long run. Aside from the charge pipe / intake pipe & MAF, all other components in a good NA build will carry over to a supercharged build. If you were going turbo it's a completely different story of course, but I'd say NA and Vortech (NOT STILLEN if you've got a VQ35DE !!!)

Also leave the heads alone. Waste of money and will hurt performance unless you're throwing a ton of power through them (over 700ish)

Cams/heads are definitely not necessary unless you're closer to the 600whp mark.

If I were you, I would do a Vortech SC with supporting mods and tune it on a large pulley (low psi) and not even mess with the motor.

As long as you're not too rough with her, you can run 350whp safely on the stock block.

I heard some guys get something like 20hp from cams/head work on the vq. I really think I'm content with going N/A instead of FI. Money isn't too big of an issue to me.
