Bought a jwt530bb kit for a decent price. But before I install the kit, I’m upgrading to GT2871R turbos.
Ive read on my350z that modification is required to mount these turbos but no one really explained what they had to do. I’m just going to roll the dice and get to4b compressor housings and try it out. I’ve also seen that the APS Twin kit had to grind the steering shaft coupler. Maybe this is the modification that the guys on my350z was talking about?
Block and heads are getting honed/ decked atm. Will be picking them up by this Friday.
First time rebuilding a Vq35de. No obvious damage here. Machine shop will verify this hopefully Cylinder 2 had rod bearing spun. I have .5 in clearance atm
The driver side Wastegate needs to be moved forward with a custom bracket. Or just smash the crap outta the frame. Barely fit. But I have enough room to wrap the manifolds.
i posted this a few weeks back and no one knew how to fit gt2871r turbos on jwt manifolds. The posts that I found were general answers like jwt makes special housings to fit the manifolds. So I bought some spacers voila. They fit. It’s 1/2” spacers and longer double ended studs from eBay.
I will weld the Wastegate brackets (from my gt2554r turbos that came with the kit) onto the existing inner bracket. Or.. it’ll have to be hammer time and knock a clearance notch onto my frame.
