The bottom of my engine problems (no pun intended)

Now that my motor is completely torn apart I got a chance to look for my loss of compression. Upon initial examination there appeared to be nothing wrong with the pistons and I started to get nervous that the issues might be in the heads. Then....

We actually found the ringlands on TWO pistons were broke. Two other pistons appeared to be fine, one other piston looked as if it were about to break and the last one was somewhere else so we couldn't look at it.

I'm not sure yet...

A lot, I know that.

The engine guy (who I trust completely) won't even give me a quote! They have nine hours in it already ($70 an hour) which covers removing the engine and completely disassembling it.

I thought 9 hours was pretty good, considering removal of the supercharger, removal of the engine, and taking the ENTIRE thing apart. I think he said it was four hours to get the motor out and five to take it all apart.

www.kptechnologies.com/dynos/dyno.htm

Check out the A/F above 5500 RPM. I'm surprised there wasn't more damage then that as I ran it pretty hard the entire time the Procharger was installed (1500 miles). Once I found out there was damage I started shifting at 5500 RPM to try and keep the block together. There is NO damage to the sleeves whatsoever.

this may be a dumb question, but how could you tell you were losing compression?

actually, that looks pretty lean throughout the power band, especially on the top end. what are you doing for fuel other than increased fuel pressure? looks like your injectors are too small.

also, check out the XEDE ( www.xede.com.au ) as an alternative to the TS reflash. it's user-tunable and very comprehensive.

I had the PE 380cc injectors, they definately weren't too small for that application. I had a Walbro fuel pump to complement the FPR. TS CAN tune for what I have, they just couldn't get it right when my car was being worked on. After I dyno'd the car (with A/F) I did a compression check and found out there was damage. Even with the damage, the car dyno'd at 350rwhp and you would NEVER know there was damage.

TS offered to reflash again to fix the problem but I didn't see a point in it, I already knew I was rebuilding and doing something else....

That XEDE has been all over these forums the past few days, has anyone actually tried one? Their website sucks. None of the links work and there is very little information regarding the VQ35. Not the kind of company I would choose to do business with. Also, I couldn't find out how much the system is, or even where to buy one.

www.vishnutuning.com is the US distributor for those. they seem to be making good power on the WRX's and EVO's.
