New to FI world

Hey whats up guys just got the Vortech SC installed on my 5AT coupe, and boy what a difference it made to my car. But i had a question about the BOV. I just wanted see if the setting on my BOV is correct. Any how i have about 6 threads showing on my BOV and the whistle is pretty loud. But as i give it some gas and start to build boost, the whistle goes away until i release the gas pedal does this sound right? Also for those who are running the stock vortech bov, how many threads is best to go with?

Thanks,

GG

6 sounds about right . BUT...if you get a flutter sound when you let off the gas from a WOT run . That compressor surge and isnt good for the blower . If that happens...back out the bolt one thread and try it again

your function sounds OK. you should hear air/whistle from valve at idle and at a constant speed. When accellerating the valve should close (become quiet) to buid boost and release as soon as gas is released.

So let me get this straight being very new to FI. With more threads showing, that means the piston will close faster, and have less compressor surge? Or with less threads showing it will close faster and have less surge? Just wondering because i want to decide if i should just try readjusting it or just leave it at around 6 threads. But from what i can hear it doesnt sound like it is fluttering when i release the gas, but i havnt really floored the car yet.

You should hear releasing until your under boost, then it will go away under boost and come back as soon as you get off of the gas...perfectly normal.

I don't have any gauges. The system is tuned and runnig great and has been for 9k miles...I probably will eventually, but it'll be for novelty purposes only. I'll prolly go with boost, A/F and fuel pressure.

???? Vortech does not have stages.....you can change the pully for higher boost though. The kit comes with a 8lb and you can change it to a 9 or 10lb pulley.
