if you have a problem regarding your powertrain, and the dealership service regards your sc, they must prove that it is the cause of such problem.
if they have proof of the sc as the source, then it will void your warranty. i hope that made sense. just because you have it on/installed does not let them void your warranty unless proven.

I took my new G to the dealer today for the 15k service and talked about mods including sc's. He said if they install it then it will not void the warranty. They sell Stillen products at the dealer and I talked w/ the installer and he was showing me pics of another G he recently finished that had stg 2 Stillen SC, suspension, body kit, basically the whole deal. guy spent around $20k.
This news seems too good to be true for me. I'm coming from a S4, where if you wash the car wrong, Audi/dealers will void the warranty.

I think it does. Greek and I both owned S4s, so seeing this from dealerships was surprising. The dealerships wanna have a shot at the fees of installing these kits, furthermore, if they research and tune the kits according to their specs, it would probably lower the risk of blowing the engine. Grubbs, Crest in TX both appear to offer warranty coverage post install, Sewell won't even entertain mods.

Heres the deal and bottom line about warranties. It's all in the hands of the service manager at your dealership! PERIOD! When a job comes in and its a "warranty covered" issue / problem the shop & mechanics get paid anywhere from 1/3 to a 1/2 (as stated and listed by, in this case Infiniti guide lines for repairs) less than a NON warranty job. So YES dealership will and most often try and find ANY reason to void a factory warranty. True, due to the "MM Act" they do have to provide you with a reason and if you did something to the car or engine that caused it, they must prove that what you did caused the problem and that's why they're not covering the repair. With a SC though you have a LOT to worry about (and the shop has a lot to say with what went wrong) - Here's just a few of the areas that you may loose coverage in, engine, transmission, fuel supply, ignition (depends on the SC kit), rear diff, axles, bearings (all of them), brakes (YES even your brakes), and the list goes on. Why you ask, simple - because of the added power you now may brake harder, abuse the transmission more, more TQ on the diff, axles, bearings, yada, yada, yada. They see you shelled out the big bucks for these mods, so they say who cares, he needs the fix, charge him (we need the $$$), and BAM you get hit with a HUGE bill! Other dealerships handles such cases a little differently, and yes some dealerships may actually offer to install the SC for you (for a fee $$$) and then they won't void the warranty, but believe it or that's not LEGAL! However it happens all the time and people fall for it! Each shop is managed differently and at the end of the month everyone has a P&L report and Infiniti wants to see PROFIT not loss. So all said and done, I always suggest becoming "buddy buddy" with your local service manager if you ever plan on modding your car with a SC. Your warranty is in hands. Throw them lunch, get some beers for the guys, anything so that when something goes wrong, they wont hit ya with the NO we cant cover it. Take my word for it! You would be surprised how much in your favor a few pizzas and some cold drinks could be to you when the zhit hits the fan! Talk about service! LOL
Only the manufacturer of a product can say yes or no to voiding of a warranty. Yes the dealer will have the ear of the manufacturer as to what they have found, but they do not have the authority to void any warranty since they only sell & maintain the product, they do not make it.
That being said if you blow up your engine, roast your clutch, etc... anything doing with the power train I'd say it's a pretty good chance the manufacturer will say they will not cover the problem. You have the right to take legal action if you feel the problem was not related to your addition of a SC.
If it's a non-related issue like brakes you of course should be covered (although I have heard stories of some dealers saying the brakes/etc. are a non-warranty item because of some kind of FI....that's BS and some pretty shady business practices).

But the dealerships we're talking about are large, and I believe that because of the volume they deal with, one or two engines going bad, they can easily cover with the volume sales they deal with. I'm betting that smaller dealerships won't even go close to such deals/warranties. Both the dealerships are I mentioned are large. Still I think that the warranties they offer are for real (they will honor it), because its not worth their reputation should they not honor it.
With regards to dealing with the service manager, I found that to be true too. My Audi service Advisor would call me and warn me to take mods off if I was bringing it in for particular work etc etc. I had a very good relationship with him.

CT-Are you on AW? B5 or B6 S4? I loved my nogaro B5.
w/ regard to the subject at hand, I'm probably (isn't that what they all say) not going to sc my G, so the warranty shouldn't be an issue. I wanted to relay what my dealer said, and oh how tempting it was...
I'm probably going to start off with exhaust, z tube, suspension, wheels and go from there.
Greek, mine was a B5 Silver S4... Had a Abt chip with Miltek Exhaust on it. I'm still debating. Mine u, I was gonna do the M3, but decided against it because of the longevity questions about the S54 engine. And yes, I was a member of AW lol

toyota installs their TRD superchargers and warranty'd from some dealers, big name dealrs often offer high performance parts and cover the part under warranty , if they install it, but not parts that fail due to WEAR AND TEAR, some parts w & t faster because of MODS . but as far as part and general warranty they will cover it with no problem. have them put it in writing to reassure u,
