G35 APS TT Fitment Questions

I know only a few G35s have the APS TT on them, but I'm hoping someone can help me out.

We are having a problem getting the drivers side turbo filter on. The turbo sits right behind the motor mount, making it difficult to get to, and then the stainless tube that is supposed to attach to it hits the A/C condenser.

Anyone else have this issue?

Also, how did others run the intake pipe from the FMIC to the throttle body. We are planning on going through right where the Z would go through, and have filed out the opening so that it will fit. The silicon tube will have a little restriction in it (egg shaped) but I don't see it being an issue as the line will be pressurized.

Final question, off topic, but I'm also installing the APS dual exhaust and I have no idea what to do with my wide band. Should I make an H pipe and install it there (don't think it will read right IN the H pipe) or is it cool if I just put the wideband in one side of the exhaust?

As a quick update:

My G finally has a built motor in it (Arias 8.6:1 pistons with Pauter rods). While the motor was apart I upgraded my cams and valve springs. The APS FMIC has been mounted, the turbos have been hung, we are just waiting on finishing up a few small things and the car should be drivable again. My plan is to put 1000 miles on it, and then drive it out to Chicago to have it tuned by GRD. I hope to eventually hit 16psi on the APS kit.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I have no clue but good luck getting her going again. Too bad APS was banned from driver and my350z.com. My best advice is to p/u the phone and call someone from APS. They should be able to give you a direct answer and not heresay...

If you plan to ever hit 16psi , you will need to upgrade the actuators. Changing them out with the snails in the car is impossible, so if you wanna save labor it's prudent to upgrade them before/during the install.
You can now get a pair ( base raised to ~10psi), with boost controller restrictors removed) from these guys FYI.

Yeah, just another great surprise with my APS. I couldn't wait to get the upgraded actuators, so I installed the supplied set. Anyways, I don't have a Unichip dealer local so its best to have the Unichip dealers swap them out, and tune the car accordingly.

It will cost a little more labor in the long run, but who knows how long it will take to get the car to Chicago... Hell, I haven't driven the car since December, who knows if I'll ever drive it again.....

Kevin,

Don't forget you've got a date at the body shop for round two to factor in. By the time you're done w/ your car it will be a collectors item... (j/k)

Thanks, I needed that now!

My car won't ever be done...

by the time I break it in and get it to Chicago to have it tuned and have the new fuel system added the car WILL be old... But, it still only has 9,000 miles on it! (and 1 blown motor and a $9,000 body shop bill).

Also, I still have to have my front bumper notched (hopefully) and have my custom front bumper cover made. After that, new wheels and then I'll start on the supsension... Will it ever stop???

I'm installing the APS TT kit on my G35 this coming weekend. Pictures will be posted here:

http://www.science.uottawa.ca/~paul/...rbo/index.html

I still did not receive the G35 supplemental kit from GRD, but that should arrive by mid-week next week. While looking at it last night, I don't really see how the intake silicone tubing will fit in there. Of course, I'll have to dremel a hole there, but the A/C lines seem to be in the way. We'll see I guess...

Let me know if you succeed. Pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks!

We got the tube to fit through the opening, it just didn't fit perfect, like I said it was egg shaped. I'm not sure what I"m going to do about it. I'm thinking about taking the route Procharger did which is through the wheel well area, but its going to be hard to get the pipe down there since the IC outlet is above the bumper. I am also now thinking about getting the front bumper 'notched' so that it doesn't cover the FMIC at all. I will have to evaluate fitment of a notched bumper next time I see the car.

I have been looking at the aps single turbo kit and the twin turbo kit. If I get the twin turbo kit and the ems for 91 octane. Will I be able to bolt it on and plug in the ems without problems? I know it will take a while to install the kit but, I'm just wondering about tuning issues.

Also, I have a set of Helix test pipes and also stillen dual exhaust. The helix pipes are not on but would I be able to use them with the kit, or would I just want to get their test pipes?

Stillen dual exhaust will not work with the APS ST unless you have it modified. APS ST or TT is out of boxed already tuned for 91oct. However once you start adding other mods, like test pipes, plenum, IM, or any mods that make the engine breath better, your G will run lean, therefore you will need to find a qualified unichip tuner in your area. Also it takes about 24-28hrs. to install the twins and around 10hrs. for the singles.

The stillen dual exhaust would work for the TT kit right? Also, does anyone know who makes a stand alone ECU for the G?

Yes the Stillen will work with the APS TT kit. Currently only stand alone that has worked with the APS kit so far is the HKS V Pro. Couple guys at my350z forum has the APS TT, cams, test pipes with aps exhaust dynoed at around 440rhwp, both using the HKS VPro, however your stock ecu is still being used. You still need an authorized HKS tuner with that software.

They fired the car up this week and found a significant oil leak on the drivers side turbo (the hard one to get to). They are going to try and have the leak fixed by the end of the day, but they failed to progress on the two fitment issues. I'm to the point now I am looking for another shop to finish the installation.

However, I am totally thrilled that my fully built APS powered G35 has moved on its own power!
