Got Gadges?
Got gauges?
I know this is a non-performance question. But I was wondering for you guys with FI set-ups, how many of you are using boost gauges?

Boost guages are much more important with turbos then super chargers. You super charger will never rise about the preset boost limit. The only way you will benefit on a supercharger is if there is a leak, or for some other reason you arn't making as high of boost as you once were.
On a turbo setup there is all sorts of things that need to be watched with a boost gauge.

also for a turbo car exhaust gas temp and oil pressure are a safe bet. BUT I would think egt is as important as boost...
The egt gauge will tell you if you are running lean or if anything is off on the tune if you temps start to skyrocket under load...without that you might never know that was a issue...Also the higher your egt's are the lower your threshold for det is...and that is always brutal for a engine, add in some FI and its really bad...
Also if you have egt you can learn how to not drive a turbo car....You can run into partial throttle full boost problems and usually the car can't compensate quickly enough and you can run dangerously lean...But I would assume that anyone with a turbo'd G wouldn't be lugging the car around in 4th at lower speeds and roll into the throttle slowly...Cause while you will build boost rapidly the car doesn't expect to be seeing that kind of boost and can't get enough fuel into the cyclinders...
oh and defi's are the best gauges out right now...
