Aps Tt G35: 12.7@115
Aps Tt G35: 12.7@114.2
Hi guys,
I went to the track last night for the first time since the TT install. I could only manage to get three runs in and I ran a best of 12.72@115mph. That trap speed tells me that I could probably get to 12.5, maybe even lower, with some better launches. Three runs are not really enough to get the best out of the conditions. I should've launched harder. I'm still running the stock exhaust and tranny/clutch and I had street tires. With a free-flow exhaust, flywheel/clutch and some slicks, I could probabaly hit 11s That would be nice..

Be careful with your new exhaust, clutch, and slicks... If you're over 400-WHP, your axles might go 'SNAP' on a hard launch. Take care.
Thanks! 60-foot was 2.166, not that great for a RWD. It was a 400-mile round trip to the track and the TT kit is holding up just fine. It was sooo smooth going down the 1/4 mile. Jaws were apparently dropping in the stages when people saw me complete the 1/4 mile in the 12s. The car should be like that from the factory.

Was traction an issue? It will probably take some practice to learn how to feather the clutch just right to get a good launch with all that new-found torque, especially with your street tires. (I see a new clutch coming in your near future!)
You might lower the pressure in your rear tires and slightly raise the pressure in your front tires, if you haven't tried that already. Take a nice dial-type air gauge with you, or borrow one when you get to the track. Experiment with small, incremental changes until you get it right. Remember, with temperature changes, your tire pressure will fluctuate up and down. You should routinely check your tire pressure before every race.
Have fun with it.
I was always told that lighter flywheels were bad for drag racing, is this true or not. I only ask since you were saying about getting a new one, I was assuming you meant lightweight.
Nice times though for what you had on your car, I could imagine that would be fun to drive.

Thanks! I wasn't nervous at all, I knew it would hold up just fine. I'm making a 2000 mile trip this coming weekend, that should be loads of fun.
Traction was great off the line. I had lowered my tire pressure to 22 psi, which probably helped a bit. But second gear was spinning pretty bad, enough to get the rear to fishtail. Good chirps from third too. My stock clutch was slipping a bit, I could smell it on my way from the 1/4 mile.

Later,
Does this video work?
Yes it does. The problem is that it's 17Mb. Here is an alternative download site, it might be faster:
http://www.science.uottawa.ca/~paul/.../G35_12sec.mov
If anyone is able to convert it and send it to me in a WMV format (smaller size), that would be great.

If traction was good, you really don't want to get slicks... since you're running APS TT I assume you're close to or pushing 400whp... if that's the case then 'bullseye' is exactly right... you don't want to put slicks on; you're either going to snap an axle, or (IMO more likely) going to shred your rear-diff.
Sweet runs though!!!

How many people have shredded their rear diff? First I've heard of this. My vote is for axles since there are a number of 350z guys using the stock VLSD and DriveShaft Shop axles getting 1.7 60ft times.

once you get it dialed in.
