Vortech rattle at idle???

Gotta love the ULEV2 emissions...

Hmmm, glad i got a 03.
Anymore to this? My Vortech seems to rattle like hell at idle RPM. Being a 2005 model...I guess the raising the idle wont happen. The A/C is always on for me. I guess that leaves me with finding the sweet spot on the cog belt? Any of you new vortech guys figure this out?
I know that Leon. I'm gonna tinker with that. But as mentioned above...it wont solve the problem...just lessen it with a sweet spot. I am looking to shut that thing up and wanted to see if anyone figured it out
I couldn't completely tune out the rattle at idle but got pretty close by making the cog belt as loose as possible without any skipping. At that setting, the noise is at a minimum. It's also way easier on the bearings in the jackshaft and the blower. I can easily turn the idler pulley with the palm of my hand--but there's a touch of resistance in it. The belt has about 1 inch of play total when checked from the underside. Don't worry about the noise--it doesn't hurt anything as long as you adjust the belt properly and don't overtighten. As soon as you take off from the light at WOT, the rattle quiets right down.

Well....I called Vortech and they told me the opposite.......they said to get the idler pulleyand cog belt as tight as I could to help the rattle.
It seems to be the actual play between the gears inside the blower that make the rattle sound.

But.....check this.....I called Roswell Infiniti and told them I wanted to come by and get my idle raised.....the guy put me on hold for about 5 min....and came back and said..."sorry it can't be done, it's all controlled electronically".
So I said no, it can be done on the early 03's. So he says "Why do you need it raised?"...and I said "Cause it idles too low".......duh. He says "I don't know why it would....we have never done that". So I said "It idles low cause there is a big ole supercharger pulling on it".
Now get this.....his next words were "Well, we don't even like working on cars that have been modified to that extent". Fine.
I stopped by my friendly Nissan dealership (Regal) and the guy got the head tech, told him what I wanted.....he said NO problem....and brought out the Consult box and did it in 5 min.!!! Said it was no problem and wouldn't let me pay him anything.
The difference in attitudes between the dealerships is amazing!
Sorry for my rant...
Yeah...its a forgone conclusion that if I take my car to Infiniti of Palm Beach for anything, they will pop the hood...take a look...close the hood and give me back my keys. Ohh well...thats why we have LOKEY!!!

There are only 4 infiniti dealers in vancouver, i got lucky with mine, they love working on it. In fact it was in for some service a few weeks ago near the end of the day and the techs were all buzzing around the engine bay. Crappy thing is they ran out of time to fininsh the work (spent so much time looking at the vortech) so i had to come back the next day.
