to those of you with the stock (or nismo) bumper

Does it seem like your car doesnt pull on the top end with forced induction? I have the APS TT and I KNOW it should be pulling a lot harder than it does. I've run with a GS400 and modified Evo but I feel like I should have been blowing them away rather than inching away. I was only able to trap 111 at my very best the last time I went to the track while other twin turbo 350Z's were trapping 118.

I've changed the bumper since then and I'll find out if it makes a difference later on this week, I was just wondering if anyone else gets this problem with the stock bumper.

The G is 200lb's heavier . But I cut a couple holes where the plates is suppose to go . Trimmed it with 1/4 vacuum hose and put black grate behind it to match the side openings

Tony, please keep us posted on your bumper test results. I've been considering a new bumper now, but $1000 for a bumper (plus paint) is just too steep IMO.

If it really proves to be functional then maybe I'll take the plunge. I'm still on the fence on this one.

I have an OEM bumper and I get plenty of airflow.

There is a thread in the FI section about how I did it.

No problem...thanks!

That looks like it would work pretty well.....I think I may try and cut out a single slot ....inline with the other two side vents....

Pic didnt take ..as you can see .
When cutting for the hole . Dont go ANY higher than the top part of the tow bar hole...as thats where the bumper brace starts

If you have the APS TT AND you still have a bumper brace then half of your IC is being blocked by it alone. While it is possible to keep the brace I would STRONGLY recomend modifying the brace to open it up in front of the IC. Remember, if air isn't freely flowing across your IC then it isn't working as effieciently as it should be!

A good portion of the intercooler is still exposed with the brace though, I took a close look at that when I bought the TS1 bumper. I can honestly say if I didnt have that brace there I wouldnt have much of an engine left after my accident.. I'm just not sure how to go about modifying it.

the verdict is yes it makes a difference on the top end, the car felt restricted compared to what it is now.. I hit 130mph on my way home and it was still pulling whereas before it felt like it tapered off.
