Choice for gauges?

If you had to pick only 3 gauges what would you get? I suppose boost is required so which would the other two be?

Another question, I guess this is just a dumb question but I have the Apex SAFCII unit, do I need a wideband controller like the AEM with the gauge? Shouldn't right? The SAFC does the job right?

My opinion...

1-Boost
2-Oil Pressure
3-A/F (Wideband)

I believe the SAFC uses a narrowband signal from your o2 sensor. Think of an SAFC as a complex "map clamp". If you would like wideband, you would need to go with a Zeitronix, AEM wideband kit, PLXdevices wideband etc....

+1 that. on my aps st i'm doing defi boost, oil press, and plx wideband. defi are'nt the most cost effective, but i figured my guages need to be as accurate as possible. plus with the defi and the autometer nexus, you can record and replay your guages after runs. sux the g35's did'nt get the stock guages the 350z comes with.

I got the 3 gauges Stg2_SRT4 recommended.

I have the Autometer Nexus Oil Pressure and Boost gauges.

For the wideband, I bought the Innovate Wideband A/F.

I vote for the Zeitronix. And it does come with EGT.

I have 2 widebands, an EGT, boost and fuel pressure gauge.

If I only had 3 I would get boost, egt, and wideband o2.

now that wideband A/f guages are cost effective, EGTs seem to be out iof style.

They are still very effective, especially if you have one for each cylinder. Then you can really see what is going on.

S/C or turbo?

I would choose different gauges for either application.

Both - Wideband A/F
Both - Boost
S/C - Fuel Pressure
Turbo - EGT

If you really are hard core, get the zeitronix and then a double gauge pod and in that put Fuel Pressure and Oil Pressure (or get a triple gauge pod and add yet another gauge)

Hey that is the set up I have, only I have the PLX R-500 instead the Zeitronix and a triple gauge pod.

Even if you have a wideband and your a/f is right on, your EGT's can be running high due to the amount of timing your running. If your EGT's are too high, even though your a/f is perfect, that could be disastrous.

That is exactly why I run EGT, Wideband AF and Boost.

I wonder about my gauge choice from time to time because I'm super critical about my decisions. It seemed to me that the Vortech relies so heavily on the FMU that you'd want to know if something went wrong with it. The fuel pressure gauge tells you that, but then again to a lesser level so does the wideband.

I don't know. Sharif told me that I got the right setup for the Vortech so that made me feel much better... then again G8tor20 had/has super high EGT's to the point where he's worried about it. Wonder what my EGT's are now.

I know....I only have EGT b/c the probe was like $65 bucks and I figured why the hell not. I heard it was mostly for the turbo folks. So..what do I have....a S/C that runs over 900C on hard runs.

I'm planning on getting a TD exhaust (if Alan would hurry the hell up) and then a re-tune to see if that helps.
