Newbie to FI
I'm not real familiar with FI setups. My previous car was a Camaro SS...
I'm looking into a turbo setup for the G that can run safely on stock internals. I read through the JWT TT thread and it sounds like a candidate. What other options are there out there? What kind of hp and more importantly what kind of trq gains can you get with a turbo setup on the G?
Also if someone could give me a ballpark for the cost of the kit and install, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks for helping a newb...

$7000 for a JWT TT with around 350rhwp out of box, is not worth it IMO, unless your state requires carb cert. JWT Kit not yet available, may or may not pass carb eo#. Bang for the buck for around $4300, go with Turbonetics ST or Vortech Supercharger, Vortech SC with less torque might be safer with your stock motor. Both only takes about 10hrs installation ( around $750-1000 ). APS ST is good also, but best to have an APS dealer to install it. IF you want more HP #'s go SFR/SSR TT, APS TT and Greddy, but will cost more and will put more stress on stock motor.
Perhaps I should clarify my goals a little bit so you guys can respond however would be best...
Basically I'd like to get the torque up to the 300+ mark (I have a 6M '05 so stock is 260, I'm talking about engine hp and trq, not wheel...). I'd prefer the torque to come in at lower rpms. I've done some reading and it sounds like the turbos are making torque sooner than the vortech is that right?
What kind of numbers are people getting on 6.5lbs of boost?
Thanks again guys

If your only looking at around little over 300 lb/tq, for the price, I would recommend Turbonectics ST or Vortech SC. Tnetics for G35 should be out very soon, Vortech is not yet available for the '05 6MT's. If price not a big deal, the JWT kit has smaller turbos which are very good for torque to come early at low rpm's , however when kit is released, may only be available for the '03's, then '04 with different ecu's, may take some time for '05 kits to come out. All are good kits, decisions...decisions.

Yeah...vortech, and all centrifugal blowers, power comes on later than you are probably used to with the SS.
You may want to look at the Stillen S/C as its not centrifugal but rather a twin screw blower, i think, which evenly distributes the power. But...even the Stage III stillen is low overall power and it requires you to get a new hood (which you may like with its similarity with the SS)
Research it....either here or my350z.com. Lots of info. Safety was my concern...hence the Vortech s/c....and I couldn't ruin the lines of the car with a hood scoop.
I think most agree that a good tune goes a long way with any FI setup. Good luck.

Thanks guys. The Vortech and the APS ST setups are the most interesting to me right now. Both kits make a lot more power than I require. Is it correct to say that each kit would add about 100 hp and 100 trq to the car? Or are my numbers off? Also, I'm guessing the car could be tuned down a bit (I can't believe I just said that) to reduce the risk of hurting a stock motor? I love my G, but I miss the torque of the SS, I'm looking for a middle ground...

The APS out of the box would be perfect for you. It is tuned relatively conservatively out of the box and would give you many miles of headache free driving if installed by an approved dealer.
