Sure looks pretty...
I got the impression it was more for looks than power . I think most guys that have put it on end up having a rich condition that [ normally ] means it doesnt flow as well

God-speed...I'm in same situation as you....thought that I would use this thread to ask a few more questions
I'm thinking of getting a vortech kit & one of the Z shop in the Bay Area recommend also do headers/exhaust (recomended Stillen cat back) & oil cooler. He says this would be the basis setup. The total $$ parts, labor & taxes came out little over 9K and I'm under a really tight budget (only can spend up to $8K)....any recommendations from you guys would be appreciated....plus does anyone know a good z shop in Orange County for these installations?

Yea Nate, fortunately i dont have to worry about installation since I'll be doing that with a friend. I just need the right parts. What I need to know is, what parts do i need besides just gettin the vortech s/c?. I'll probably go to like streetimage or sp eningeering to get my car tuned/dynoed once its done. Which one do you guys recommend, streetimage or sp engineering?

Vortech S/C + what other mods = safe/power

I've got a INJEN SES exhaust already on, i'll probably do some headers. Anyone know where you can get a Vortech S/C for around 4300 or cheaper shipped?

I would suggest just installing the kit and a couple gauges [ boost , A/F ] Will cost you around $ 6500 to 7000 . Do the exhaust and headers later after you have gotten use to the SC . An oil pan spacer should be good enough , it will hold an extra quart of oil and cost alot less than a cooler . I have the Stillen cat back and its a nice piece , I always see them for sale [ used ] and you can pick one up for half price . The same goes for headers

vortech Blow-off valve??? normally open under vacuum?

does the vortech blowoff valve always stay open when the engine is in "vacuum?"

I noticed that a few people say the vortech makes a jet-like sound when cruising. I used to have procharger that had a similar setup........when in vacuum, the BOV was always open and venting............

If you switch the BOV to a greddy type-s, you can adjust the preload on the bOV, so that it won't stay open under normal cruisng (vacuum). Only when you have both vacuum and a significant amount of pressure in the tubes will the BOV open up.

On many supercharged setups, the MAF is placed before the blower and the BOV is located close to the throttle body. In cases like this, it used to be that you could only use a BOV that recurculated the air. With the use of the GReddy Type-S, you were able to open the BOV to atmosphere, instead of recirculating the air.

Awesome thanks guys, i'm waiting on Avalon response to my PM about beating prices. I read somewhere Randy G got his Vortech at Superchargers4less (i think), they quoted me an awesome price. Has anyone bought or delt with superchargers4less? they are suppose to be an authorized dealer for Vortech with 3 year warranty...thanks everyone
