Vortech with ? for 05 AT G35c

Sorry to post this thread....I'm newbie & need any input

I'm thinking about going with Vortech....for daily driving and reliability. I'm not into racing or anything like that...just something to have & sometimes to beat the $$hit out of some accords/integras that always pull up at redlight & and start gunning its engine at me. I was told by one of the shop in Bay Area to also install these (NOT a must but STRONGLY recommended )

headers (DC Sport)
Oil cooler
Cams
Exhaust (Stillen Cat back)

I'm under restricted budget though...only can afford around $8-9K...any reconmendation would be appreciated

Ps...Does anyone know a good shop in Orange County to do installation for the vortech kit with the aboved parts ?

You can't go wrong with the vortech. but i read somewhere that you should keep your stock headers when you s/c and change to aftermarket with you turbocharge it. something to do with shorter headers are better with s/c, not sure but ill try to find that post. also you can't go wrong with oil cooler and cams, not necessary but are +'s. also the stillen exhaust is a great exhaust in terms of performance gains.

with supercharger headers should help IIRC... the quicker to get the air being forced into the motor out. (off topic, but you can't use headers with most turbo systems as the turbo manifold replaces the header itself). i remember reading posts about headers with a supercharger a while back

Get the kit put on .Add two gauges [ boost and A/F ] Pick up a used set of headers and used Stillen dual cat back . Seems like there is always some one selling both and at half price . A oil cooler isnt needed . I would just go with a oil pan spacer

I just finished putting the Vortech on my '03 5AT... you'll love it. Here's the thread I had going that might answer some of your questions.

IMO this is a very true statement

This is so wrong. With a S/C you want to allow the car to breathe. More air in and more air out = more horsepower!

I ran with Crawford headers (with the kit in my sig) and I made 5rwhp and ~20rwtq more than G8tor20 and I was running at 1.5 psi of boost less than him. If I would have put on a smaller 2.87 pulley to have the same boost (to compare apples to apples) I probably would have easily had 30rwhp and 30rwtq more than him.

Bottom line, headers, plenum, h/f cats or straight pipe and a good exhaust make a S/C THAT MUCH BETTER!

^^^ the above is losely paraphrased from the book of Booger.

Also, some turbo applications come with their own turbo manifolds. If this is the case you MUST remove the stock headers and use the turbo manifolds. I know for a fact that the TN ST uses the stock headers and even the awfully long Crawford headers fit while running that set up. There's a guy on my350z.com with the TN ST and the Crawfords.

Thanks guys...I decided to go with Stillen stage 2. I'll be dropping off my car next week at an Infiniti dealer (So CA) for the installation...I'm wondering if these sound right to you guys:
I'm paying $9K total for labor/ parts/ taxes/ warranty....Parts are Stillen stage2 kit, Fiberglass hood & painted, stillen duel catback and this is all...and also I will get another g35 as a loaner car....

what do you guys think ?

You could get the Vortech brand new, more power, ditch the 'questionably less than attractive' hood and save a good $2000 AND get a full gauge pod with wideband, boost and fuel pressure to boot.

Way more for your money, more power, more stealth... no brainer IMO. YMMV

Good luck in what ever decision you make. I'm sure you will love it!

Cool

A shamless plug for a good deal......

But, I had the chance to drive a Stillen Stage 2 car the other day.

I wouldn't trade.
