Miaplaya - it would be great to get a summarized list of the failures if you know them off the top of your head. I have read about things like the upper oil pan cracking with the stock adapter and such... everything seems like little odds and ends that could be easily rectified in v2 of the kit.

I think the TN kit is a great value but I'm glad I have to wait for the 5AT version so that a lot of the bugs get worked out. (BTW, when is the G35 5AT coupe version due out?).

Thanks.

im not dissing the kit. im jus stating that my350z.com seems to have alot of info on this kit especially when trying to trouble issues that have been popping up. i mean it is the first batch so i expect some minor bugs to work out. i know my problem is not w/ the kit ( except for the missing 3" hose, 2.5" coupler, and a couple of t-bolt clamps...spent an extra 60 some odd bucks on those...will talk to TN about that) but install related...but i really should have thought this thru rather than jumpin' right into it. never had the best of luck w/ modifying cars. oh well, lessons learned.

Summarized failures..not even sure...the oil pan tap that came with the Turbonetics kit should not have caused any issues unless it was threaded to hard or fast. I helped install a G kit and there are two taps. Neither of them did anything damaging. Most of the issues were due to overboost. There is a fix for that now and the pics and details are posted on my350 in the overboost list. There have been 190 kits shipped from Turbonetics. Of those 190 9% have reported issues with it. Most of them were install related, overboost related, or due to an aftermarket part installed with the kit that wasn't working right. You can ask g35pm all about that The 5AT kit will go into R&D for the G most likely in the next month. Shouldn't take very long to do so. I wasn't saying your were bad mouthing the kit BTW...

05-06 R&D begins Feb...shouldn't be too much work. Most of the stuff bolts up...one pipe needs to get tweaked...and they need to finalize the tuning...

That sucks man. I didn't even know you were putting a kit in. The only pm you ever sent me was about the oil pan spacer.

Did you ever dyno the car after install? And if so, did you or the shop run it (not under load) for 20 miles or so before the dynot to let the ecu learn the flash? The rough idle might be normal but I didn't have that problem. Mine went straight to about 900-1000 like it was supposed to.

If there was an install problem or flash problem a post-install dyno should've shown it. AFRs in the 14s under boost is not good at all though. Did you notice it at 14 the whole time or just for a spike?

Definitely contact them about the missing parts though. I had a part missing and Reggie sent it to me over here. Their shipping/packing department is killing them with these kits.

Hope everything works out.

Russ

Haha, thanks Mia.

Do you have a plenum or a plenum spacer? If you do, make sure that isn't leaking. A leak from a plenum/spacer that was missed when NA, will be exaggerated under boost. Also, a boost gauge isn't going to catch a leak from a plenum. I'd get on the horn to turbonetics about those missing clamps. I was missing one myself and put the install off 3 days before I received it. It's important to have the correct size clamp for every connection. I think Alberto(from my350z) tried to sub in other clamps while waiting for the right ones and he had problems.

My car fired right up after install. It just stunk like hell from all the machining oils burning off the pipes. At idle you should be at 14.7A/F and around 20-21 for vacuum. At WOT 8psi with ~10A/F. If you suspect no leaks, I suggest checking the recent threads on my350z mentioned earlier.

Ok those are your problems. I had those same problems.

AF's are REALLY bad. Please stop running the car. Get it fixed right away. Idle should be 14.8. WOT should be 11.8-12.0. 14 is really lean at WOT. Make sure your AF gauge is calibrated correctly.

Limp mode is beacuse too much air passing your MAF. Can't do anything about that unless TN flashes for it (dunno if they do) or you get an aftermarket EMS that clamps the MAF signal down so it won't trigger limp mode.

Clutch in @ 3 k for me would stall the car. I had an aftermarket clutch flywheel set up, took a little bit for ECU to learn.
