FI - bad on the highway? Help!

I have been considering more and more going FI in the (very) near future, and am leaning toward a Vortec kit due to a deal that might be too good to pass up. One thing I have not seen mentioned is highway driving - long distances at high speeds. So...

I do by far most of my driving on the highway. Coming home from work I am going 45 miles at an avg of 80 mph, just shy of 3k rpm. On weekend when I run out of town I usually run 3-4 hours non stop at 3-4.5k rpms (80-100+mph). If the SC kicks in at a certain rev - say 3200 rpm - would this have a good, bad or no effect on my car, sc, engine, etc running constantly for hours at a time?

According to Randy's G...If I remember correctly;

He said he drove from Cali to Texas and averaged like upper 20 mpg's...and he said overall his MPG's have increased with his supercharger set up....I think it's a vortech, but not sure.

The SC is always spinning . But its the [BOV , Bypass valve] that has to close to build boost . It will not close untill you step on the gas and there is load on the motor [ vacuum goes down ] and the BOV closes

There will be a little extra strain on your engine because it has to spin the S/C even if it is not building boost. MPG gains I have never seen evidence to back that up, I just don't see it possible.

You won't be doing any harm... The car isn't boosting much if any at all. My buddy's s/c has better gas mileage with a 9lb pulley than my TN kit
