What the h*** is wrong with my ATI

hey guys newb here to the forum( great place by the way). But i have some problems with my charger. first off a little background, i have a 03 cb coupe auto, i've got 19" RPO3's, Brembo Gran Turismo brakes, RSR springs and RSR full exhaust. I love my car it looks great but i am embarrased to open my hood because of this f***ing oil thing. I've seen a few brief things on this but have not seen any solutions. is anyone out there that can help me out. My car is already in trouble, somehow melted the plugs and broke the porcelin off! now the knock sensor is picking something up and shutting my car down at 4k rpm. Put it on the dyno and it came out with a whopping 140 horse!! so now it is built motor time already( my car has only 12k miles!!) anyways anyone out there with any good tips i would greatly appreciate it

12K and you blew your motor already? I heard that ATI does blow motor every now and then, sorry to hear this man. I don't care what other people say but I still believe that the VQ is not ideal for FI, that is the reason why there's so many built engine in my350Z.... hope your motor is still good.

I know there is a place that you can buy a built motor for 6K but you need to send your old one to them, not sure if they will accept bad motor though. I saw it at my350z.com

yeah i've been kicking around the idea of the motor from Z1 Motorsports. It sells for around 5.5k but not sure yet, the car still drives. just very slow

I will get this to a reputable shop to get it check right away, you might be able to save part of your motor if that is the case.

I just read an article (sorry I forgot the magazine, but it is currently on the newstand), and they were saying that the engine block itself can handle up to 800hp, but the internals can only handle 400hp. Anything beyond 400hp you need to upgrade rings, bearings, rods, etc etc

Yap that's always been the rule, and that is why most stock boost is under 400whp. but i still see a lot under stock boost that blew their motor.. maybe they are talking about 800/400 crank HP and not WHP

If you've got melted plugs and cracked insulators, the motor is not long for this world. Get ready to yank it and exchange for a new upgraded short block. These guys do good work.

Then throw the ATI in the rubbish bin and get a properly tuned FI setup.

the ATI isn't rubbish, it just needs additional parts to make it run really well

OK. It needs extra parts to prevent melting plugs. I rest my case.

The ATI is one of the better units out there. Maybe people in the VQ world dont think so but as far as superchargers its far better than Vortech.

Sorry your motor is going bye bye never heard of that problem. Who tuned the car? I got an ATI and I love it. I drive her hard all the time so far im ok and im just shy of 400rwhp.

Agreed you do need to change thing on the kit to make it work much better and safer. i.e- Greddy EU!!!!!! and intank fuel pump not that inline voltage crap they send in the box.
Good luck man look in the my350z.com forums there are tons of threads about the ATI.

hey guys thanks for the input, i took the car to a shop already( Alamo Autosport) and that is where i found out all the bad news, i'm definitly in need of a new motor. but not going to have the funds to change to a different fi setup. i like ATI, had one on a mustang and it was great, just need to fix it right the next time around. the car was origionally tuned by Techosquare in Cali. but not sure who the blame lies on( i bought the car with the blower already installed). Does anyone know a fix to this oil thing whenever i get it all fixed?

Honestly i dont have a lot of oil discharge. I know another guy who had it bad and it even discolored his paint. You can always put some pantyhoes on the BOV so it wont spray everywhere.

My problem is getting the big cog belt to stay tight.

hey bro I would look into getting a Greddy EU I love TS but dont trust the tuned they put on the cars. Good luck with the build. Where you from?

I moved my BOV to the steel tube before the plenum. I found that the BOV that came with the kit was not holding pressure very well, but have never experienced any oil issues.

I too am building the motor. It should be on the road in 2 weeks.
