I did mean, how is it working out. But it's interesting to know how you did it. Thanks.

I just got my fuel pressure regulator replaced, but I haven't even had time to see if it fixed the problem.
i just purchased my first home, so i know how those "other higher priorities" could affect your life significantly. truthfully, i probaby won't start really playing with the engine until i get the damn car payed off in '09. i hope the old mantra "good things come to those who wait" will still ring true then

So how much are we talking about when you guys say, "have the block built"? what needs to be added on it for a safer FI add on?

I believe a decent set of pistons and rods will run you $3K. While you have the motor out you might as well do cams and have some head work done. You'll also need a complete gasket set. Factor in the labor (assuming you have a shop do it) and you'll be at $7K or so

$3K for internals
$1K for cams
$1.5K for headwork
$1.5K for removal, work, reinstall

You will still need to add your FI device and tuning to this. Don't be surprised if the whole project runs upwards of $20K.

And those prices are low compared to the several quotes I've received. I've been quoted double that for labor when you include reinstalling the turbo kit, then add in gaskets, fluids, supporting cooling mods, upgraded clutch and so on. I've seen pricing anywhere from $10K-$13K, depending on the various upgrades you go with.

Sounds like it would be better if the block were to just be bought separately and make that the project. This way you can take your time building it, and you wouldn't dig yourself in to a deep hole right away. Just buy/have work done to it as you have cash to spare. Once done, have the motor pulled and switched.

Damn, with all these school loans/bills i'd probably never get done... lol ah well, some day.

Ok what? So you buy the built block from them, they charge you the ... lets say Basic $2950 plus the $2200, once you send them YOUR block, they will refund you the $2200?... that doesn't sound like a bad deal, has anyone on here ordered from these guys?

i wonder how reliable are the rebuilt blocks, i know it says 1 or 3 year warranty against "DEFECTS", but what kind of defects? like if were to buy one and boost my car to 400Rwhp and if I were to later look at the sleeves and they had a crack would that be my fault or fall under their defect warranty?

Forge CP pistiond 8.5.1 CR/ JE if the have them
Forge Pauter rods(spell)
ARP studs
a good steel head gasket.
port a polish head

something simular for the G35 if you wanna max boost.
