haha, you're right. You would think I would have caught that originally. Of course, his 35K price for the car was below what i paid for my fully loaded '04 coupe after T&T ($42K). I've easily got another $15K - $20K in the car, if not more, and I still have about another $5K to go for wheels and a clutch.

I think in the end it all comes down to preference, as I wouldn't trade my G for anything manufactured by GM in the last 25 years.

Finiti,

I will have about 65K in my car when I am done (that would include a SGP upgraded short block w/ is not in my sig).

It should be at least as fast, probably faster depending on how far I push the boost and suspension mods, as a Z06.

However, my interior is light years nicer (it really is on par w/ a BMW....it was the earlier G's that had poor interiors).

Now, you don't really think you can actually get a z06 for MSRP, do you?

Yeah, some scum bag car salesman is autioning off the "Additional Dealer Mark-up" on the new Camaro on ebay. What a dick. Opening is 5K and the "buy it now" is 20K!

Z06's aren't that exclusive, being that they came out a year ago I'm having a hard time believing they're still selling at a premium. With Chevrolet resale value in mind, a used one would probably cost 10K less than new already...

But that's beside the point. I do know very well the feeling of building something that's your own and unique, and having the patience to go through many troubles to get the car where you want it to be - as opposed to just buying one of thousands of Z06's or what have you. If Vortech had come out with the rev up kit a year ago, I would have probably jumped on it. But I'm not a guy, I don't know how to troubleshoot, neither can I afford the downtime/high maintenance that comes with an FI car. I would love to own one one day, but it wasn't the G.

Speaking of mark up, I would LOVE to get the new GT 500 Shelby for its MSRP of 43k...but the reality is that they will cost at least 60 K.

I am better off putting 20-25K into my 2002 Mustang GT.

Of course that will be more than a year down the road, after I pay off my G, first.

I have got to get a cheaper hobby.

EDIT: I just saw your last post, Finiti...everyone I have asked (Including guys who sell Chevy's) says that the Z06 premium is hugs. Same w/ the Shelby.

And you are correct: My car(s) when I am done w/ them will be unique....and I will love it if I am just a little bit faster for slightly less money.

C6 Z06's still demand a high resale value and new purchase value. They have not gone down nearly as much as you think they might have (yup I've been looking at one for a while).

I agree with the money into the car though. I'm into the $50k's with my car. I do not have a fully built motor, just TT, exhaust, wheels, body kit parts (still to be mounted). When I'm done I should be about $52k-$52k into the car. Keep in mind that I've got a base 6mt model car not one with the extra premium packages.

Enlighten me then. There are several Z/Gs that have been running thousand of miles at my whp level or more without issue. BriGuyMax has had his Z tuned to 460whp and tracked for more than a year without a problem and my tuner has had his Z at 509whp with the same kit for more than 2 years on stock internals.
