Got the Dayco 89009 which is indeed the correct pulley. Replaced them today and all my squeaks are gone.

Dayco 89003 for the smooth idler pulley
Dayco 89009 for the ribbed idler pulley

I have a little bit of squeaking but just at startup sometimes. I'm pretty sure it's just my belt and it just needs to be tightened a bit.

We're referring to the 3 idler pullies on the left hand side of the mounting bracket. One smooth and two grooved.

Mine ended up being 1 of the 2 bearings inside the cog assembly that are pressed in. One of the bearings was shot.

Tell me about it. My car went back to GTM today. Saturday it started making this horrible noise. Not the squealing noise of a belt that is loose. A lot worse. I couldn't really tell if it was coming from the SC or the bearings. I decided not to take any chances either way. Damn, sux to be having this problem after having the Vortech less than 3 months.

That's what I'm saying. So soon?? Either way, if it's an issue with the SC, it's under warranty. It sounded really bad though. Dru (Meechin) came over to my pad and listened to it. He said it almost sounded like a metal on metal kind of noise. Hopefully it's something minor that can be fixed quickly. I compared it to the bearing noises that have been posted and it doesn't really sound like them so we will see.

It could just be a pulley bearing. These bearings are just your run of the mill bearings and could be defective from the factory or have a bad seal where the grease leaks out.

If it's one of the pulley bearings on the mounting plate, that is like a $10 fix. If it's the bearings in the jackshaft (like mine) then it involves a little more work to get the bearings out of the jackshaft assembly. If it's bearings in the blower assembly it will have to go back to Vortech.

Good luck.

Thanks. I still don't have enough experience with the Vortech to know the difference. That's why I sent the car back to GTM. Hopefully it's just the bearing. I don't want to have to wait a few weeks if it's the blower.
