it seems the g coupe will have 3.7 L engine. thus be callled g37.

 

i hope they stay with G35x unless they can make the 3.7L with same gas milage as the 3.5L.... the x already eat up gas more than other G, 3.7L with AWD..... it's gonna drink gas like water, 15/20 mpg? hope not

 

when you have a g gas mileage should not be a concern, otherwise, get a prius!

 

Didn't you see the press release where they said the new 3.7l engine is more fuel efficient than the 3.5? Seriously!

As its name suggests, the G37 is motivated by a new 3.7-liter VQ-series V-6 that delivers 330 horses and 270 pound-feet of torque. Compared with the 306-horse, 3.5-liter, 268-pound-foot V-6 in the second-gen G sedan, the 3.7 utilizes the same 95.5mm bore but features a longer 86.0mm stroke (versus 81.4 mm), a higher-compression ratio (11.0:1 versus 10.6:1), and roughly 35-percent unique parts. The "VHR" components denote Infiniti's innovative Variable Valve Event and Lift technology and the 3.7's "high-revolution" capability, i.e., a redline of 7500 rpm. According to Infiniti, VVEL, which continuously varies the timing and lift of the intake valves, provides more power and torque throughout the powerband as well as improved fuel economy and reduced emissions.

if you can afford the g, i am pretty sure you can afford the gas.

Just because you can afford a G does NOT mean you can afford all the gas in the world. Seroiusly, the G is a good value car. We're not talking about an exotic here. If I had to drive an X every day, I know I'd be complaining about gas, and it's certainly not because I cant afford it. Certain things just dont make sense for a daily driver.

Gas mileage is important but it is all relative to me. You most likely purchased the G for things like its 300+ Horsepower, seating for 5 (sedan), and safety....and then expect 35 miles per gallon? Considering the type of car we are discussing 20 miles per gallon seems acceptable to me. I have a 4-cylinder honda that gets 28-30 mpg which is great but I don't expect the same from a performance vehicle. Now, if it were getting 10 mpg, I would pass just because it seems irresponsible.

Besides, even if they somehow could squeeze 25 mpg out of the car, that would save you what - $400 per year if you drive 15k miles?

I hear people complaining about gas alot, but I don't really get it. People don't bat an eye to go out to a bar or restaurant and spend a few hundred dollars. Or they have some cable package that's a hundred plus dollars a month and think it's worth it.....but then I hear them complain about gas. Not saying this is the case with you, but I hear it all the time.

surely, by all means the g is not an exotic, however the power levels are clearly competitive in the market. of course, through power delivery the car needs a major source of it: fuel.

i truly agree with muscarel here and indirectly linked a car's price to the amount and price of gas used to drive (30k is a lot of doe). in essence, you gotta pay to play (was my point actually).

with the x series, it's actually not that big of a deal with fuel consumption... since attesa et-s will activate once the rear wheels loses traction. so unless the driver romps on the pedal to the metal often, i don't see how one will drink gasoline like rsx haterade on my350z.

personal note:
with a built block tt churning 508 rwhp, my car yields about 19-20 mpg with lots of fun during trips. it's a daily driver too.
