First Impressions:
Nissan believes that the time is finally here for a high-performance hybrid, and we're almost ready to be convinced.

That would definitely make sense.
It's where the Accord Hybrid went wrong. People who wanted fuel economy weren't the same people who wanted power and were willing to pay the premium.
Although I liked the idea of a powerful hybrid that gets good fuel economy as well...... The cheaper 4cyl Accord got good fuel economy and sold much better.
I'm honestly surprised Infiniti hasn't come out with a base 2.5 liter model. Look at the Altima and IS250. The cheaper, base engine cars sell much better.
Unfortunately, doing so would likely raise the price of the G37.

People always seem to think hybrid motors can't be powerful. Automakers just don't make them that way is all. Seems Nissan wants to go another route . Electric motors can actually put out more torque than a gasoline engine. The structure of a hybrid engine is actually pretty interesting .
