The '08 FX will NOT be getting the Sedan's HR motor. No big changes save a few color options being deleted from the 45 and I believe sheer platinum which was an FX45 exclusive color will be available on the FX35. Additionally an ipod jack which was supposed to be in the glove box on '07 models wasn't included because of some issues with the supplier. It'll be there on the '08 model.

I remember reading somewhere that Infiniti trademarked the M37 and FX37 designations.

If the FX is redesigned for '09 (which is definitely should be), who knows what'll be under the hood. Since the EX will supposedly get the 3.5L HR motor from the Sedan, it'd be fitting for big brother FX to get the 3.7L. At the same time the EX won't have a V8 option so Infiniti might just go with the 3.5L for the base FX since 306hp is already plenty strong. Plus they may want to keep the 3.7L Coupe exclusive for a year or two. Or they could pull a BMW and ***** it out to everything in their lineup just as BMW has done with its N54 3.0L twin turbo inline 6. Afterall, Nissan did trademark FX37. LOL. In the end, no one really knows yet.

No one knows, but I'll speculate that the new FX will get the 3.7 L. The new 3.7L will surely fit in the FX's engine bay. The new VVEL system will return better fuel mileage. I think Automobilemag stated that they received 27mpg in the new coupe even with the air conditioner running. My guess is that is highway mpg. The FX isn't necessarily in need of, but, would benefit from better gas mileage. A 330 horse FX would give the the 37 what the 35 lacks now...stronger passing power. Then again I could be very wrong. The next FX - I SAW IT
Got invited to a market research study and it turned out it was to evaluate a concept FX. I had to compare it agains the Mercedes ML, Acura MDX, Lexus RX, and BMW X5. The side profile is pretty much the same with the addition of vents in front of the front wheels. The back is evolutionary....nice curves and lines....a nice step forward. The front....I remain somewhat speechless. Wheras the current FX has a tall front grill, the front of this car appeared much thinner. It was almost like the front of a sports car had been stuck onto the FX. The front was the biggest change and I'm not sold on it yet. However, compared to the other cars, I'd still pick the FX.
The FX35 gets bumped up to 300hp. The FX50 comes with 390hp and 369 tourque. This sold me more than anything. I would guess that weight doesn't change that much, so this thing must be quick.
The interior (which by the way, you couldn't get into the concept car, you had to get into a mock-up of it to evaluate the interior) was nice. The steering wheel was hot with really cool looking paddle shifters. The look of it and the instrument panel reminded me a bit of the Acura MDX. The center console was much like the M. The only problem with the interior was this hideous diagonal patterned leather. I told them that that feature alone made me give the overall interior low marks. I pray that doesn't make it into production.
I'm invited back for a focus group, so I'll have another opportunity to help Infiniti get this right. I can't believe I got picked for this and even better they paid me $150 for my time.
