I wish they brought the 7sp auto to the G35 Sedan...

Proof that the majority of Infiniti's recent designs look like @$$ in spy shots, this thing is boooooch looking. The one tacky design element I could do without are the "me too" fender vents. It seems like the 50 models have vents trimmed in chrome with the 35's piece is trimmed in matte black. I definitely prefer the matte black pieces to the tacky looking Ford Focus wannabe chrome ones.

The vents aren't fake chrome and tacked on like the Focus.

They are 100% functional, and reduce front lift by 5%.

Maybe it'll grow on me, but my first reaction is "eww". I loved the current design the first time I saw it, but they botched up the front end in my opinion on this one. Oh well, good thing I got mine when I did.

It only makes sense that the M45/50 will get this engine and transmission.

Yeah...um, I read that part too. Pay attention. I never said they were fake, I said they look tacky and unoriginal. Just because something is functional, it doesn't mean it's aesthetically pleasing.

What's special about it?
If you were hoping for a radically new 2009 Infiniti FX, you're not going to like the news out of Geneva. The next-generation FX is almost indistinguishable from the current model in its design and execution. So if you like the current model, you'll love the new one. Don't like the current model? Move along to the next semi-useful high-speed utility vehicle.

You have to look hard to notice the changes on the 2009 FX. Instead of smoothly integrating the chrome grille into the front fascia, it's now sunken slightly and painted black. Instead of featureless rectangles, the headlights are shaped like the eyes of an angry cartoon character. More aggressive front wheel arches further add to the hostile look of this new FX. And like all too many new cars and trucks these days, the FX also gets a pair of chrome quarter-panel vents just behind the front wheels.

Under the hood, the FX sticks with a V6 on base models and a V8 for the top-of-the-line trim. No details were given on the V6, but it's safe to say that it will be yet another variation of the VQ-series engine used in just about every Nissan/Infiniti product. The V8 has been enlarged to a displacement of 5.0 liters and the output is estimated at more than 380 horsepower, a hefty bump over the 320-hp 4.5-liter V8 in the current model.

Both the V6 and V8 engines will get a new seven-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift control. All-wheel drive is optional along with continuous damping control, active rear steering and 21-inch wheels. Options for the interior include adaptive cruise control, an 11-speaker Bose audio system and Infiniti's new Around View monitor system. Sales in the U.S. begin in June.

Whats all the buzz about an FX55 being released as well?

Motor Trend's Geneva coverage states that the V6 used in the FX will be the 3.7L V6. They also stated that the US gets the G37 sedan w/ 7 speed auto for 2009.

The interior is an absolute masterpiece (as with the EX). The exterior is good overall, I just don't like how the grill is recessed (it sure does look aggressive as hell). I can't wait to see it in person and experience the technology crammed into this thing. STANDARD after suspension damping. Awesome.
