Replacing my X5 soon

...Our figure-eight test underscored this ability with the Cayenne's clearly superior run, which puts it solidly in the neighborhood of a Nissan 350Z Track model or an SVT Mustang Cobra. The next time you wish you had a Porsche sports car but need an SUV (and have a stack of U.S. fund coupons or the requisite credit rating), there's one true performance utility that satisfies both criteria. Look no further than the Cayenne S to shame any wannabes--and a few sports cars as well...
I went to test the Q7 over at Quebec and that thing is just amazing!! The off road features of that thing is remarkable... but then I would never take it off road and baby that thing day and night. And the look of that thing in person will just blow you away. The three level suspension can give you the off road look or the more sportier look. It has a very mean yet clean look. Get it in Black!!! Personally, I would choose Q7 over the rest for the money... but that's just me. I wish I have the money but I just picked up a 06 coupe and so now i'm getting the FX....which I'm sure I'll be happy with ^^.
why are you not getting another x5. the 4.4 or 4.8, thats the way to go. that and the rangerover sport, there are no hotter suvs. period.
the cayenne is sweet too, but not woth it in my opinion unless its the twinturbo.
get another x5

In my mind the FX is the best choice. Even if money were no object, I just don't like the look of the Cayenne, especially because of the odd-looking front end. To me the FX looks more sleek and sporty than the Cayenne or the Q7. And since money IS an object for me, you just can't beat the value of the FX.
I think the Q7 is pretty good looking too, but as someone else mentioned you probably can't expect long-term maintenance to be as cheap or infrequent as it would be with an Infiniti. There's something to be said for having one of the only cars on the road by buying in the first model year, but there's also something to be said for the number of bugs you're likely to encounter.
So I say go with the FX. It's a proven platform / engine / drivetrain / suspension / interior, it's sexier and more different than anything else out there, and it's a steal when compared to other cars in the class. My wife and I bought an 05 FX35 last fall, and we absolutely love it.
Side note on engines in the FX: I have driven both the FX35 and FX45, and to me the difference in power isn't worth the extra $6-10K (depending upon options you couple with either model). You don't even really notice it unless you floor it off the line or need to pass at a ridiculous speed. The FX35 is by no means a second-level option.
P.S. Don't buy another X5. It's a middle of the pack vehicle at best in terms of value, reliability, and performance. I'm convinced people buy it for the badge.

Cayenne S > FX45 > Q7
Look into the MB ML500 as well. They are really nice as well.
