Replacing my X5 soon

FX, Cayenne, or Q7? What would you suggest and why?

if you are getting a Cayenne S, I'de say go for it. the base cayenne isnt that impressive though, 247 hp 6 cyl.

Cayenne S > FX45 > Q7

Look into the MB ML500 as well. They are really nice as well.

The FX sure gets my vote. IMO, the FX is the sexiest SUV on the road. I would definitely stay away from ML series. They have been plagued with numerous reliability issues over the years.

In terms of looks, I personally think FX45 > Q7 > Cayenne

I'm not a fan of the Cayenne at all in terms of looks, the inlets on the bumper are too large.

However, it depends on what you need it for. Any off roading? Need to haul much? How many seats do you need? etc...

Is space an issue? The FX certainly is not the most spacious SUV.

Is money an issue? If not then you might as well get the Cayenne S.

If you want a good looking SUV with decent performance at a reasonable price, go with the FX.

My choice is the FX. I don't need much room and it seats four comfortably, the price is right and if it's anything like my G35, reliability shouldn't be an issue. I also don't tow and off-road, but love gadgets.

O.K, so here's the deal. Drove quite a few cars this weekend:

FX35 Tech, Sport, Touring, Hands-free pkg - top of my list
BMW 530Xi wagon - possibility
BMW X5 4.4i - killer lease
Touareg V8 - hell no!
Cayenne S - love it, but I'm 6'4", handle bars rub my knee
ML350 - high center of gravity/too tippy
Range Rover Sport - leaks oil on the showroom floor
Q7 - I'd have to wait till June

Here's the kicker...while looking at the ML350, momma fell in love with the MBZ R350 Sport pkg. Now she wants that! "We can fit six when we go to Napa" she says. I need some suggestions in talking her out of this one....anyone??? I'm not ready for a German minivan.

Forget about talking her out because of minivan... If the R350 is built in any plant near the MLs, be prepare to pay big bills to fix that thing and be prepare to be call for road side assistance.... Some guy's sister over at CarAndDriver forum got a new ML not too long ago, and her ML just failed all of a sudden and it happened TWICE in like 2 or 3 months...

I am not very familiar with the R350, but like Renesis already stated....if it's anything like the ML series....run the other way!!!

Read this before you go that route!!
