Lens/Light Overlays VS. Lens/Light Spray On Tint

I'm trying to decide which one to use. I have not had the best of luck with overlays from CarCustomZ.com. Has anyone used to the spray on types and how have the results been. Pictures of both would be helpful too. Thank you.

I've heard that if you paint the lenses it's a good idea to wet sand them first with super fine paper. Has anyone else heard this or possibly done it?
BTW - BlueBatmobile states that his overlays can be waxed so they get a similar super shiny appearance like spray on lens spray.

Thanks.
